First time to the Whitewater park. All I had was my white water paddle board, dry suit, helmet, and PFD. The water parks highlights include a very surfable river wave. I tried to surf it twice with my board and it barely worked. I think it’s better suited for dedicated small river, surfing boards. The wiggles were very accommodating and helpful. I also tried the Whitewater sections of the park. The other waves were difficult to surf on with the board and seemed more suited for a kayak. The inner tube section was runnable with my white water paddle board, but the ledges are very shallow, and the board would drag on each wedge. There’s a large flat water area below the rapids with limited flow as well as a large area above the rapids near the Hayden home amphitheater where people can paddle on flat water with minimal flow. I think it is an excellent addition and wish it existed in my current city. I think as far as a destination Unless you’re coming from someplace without any water access, you might be slightly disappointed. I think it is a great place to go river surfing if you were into river surfing or want to learn to river surf. I think for the local Whitewater community there, it is a great place to practice a few things with kayaks. For the general public, who wants to just go paddle boarding or swimming or tubing it is also a very fun addition. We got there early in the day on Friday and there was plenty of parking. By the end of the day, there was no...
Read moreWhat a joyful place that is part of what makes Bend the idillic paradise town it is. Some might say it's too crowded but I say it's great people watching! The river is split into three sections. The first section is fun little artificial rapids that the tubers go down. There is a constant flow of hilarious tubes and rafts and air mattresses on Parade on any hot day. The middle section of the river is for surfers or kayakers trying to stay up an artificial wave. It's pretty cool. The third section of the river is for the fishies and ducks. The park does a good job of taking Wildlife into account and providing them safe homes and passage. The park also has a narrow boat ramp for kayaks and paddleboards and a very small sandy beach area which is fun for kids and swimmers. There is also a very large grassy area with sunlight and shade where people like to sit or sunbathe. The restrooms are large and clean and work great as...
Read moreHave floated this many times, but in July at the last 2 rapids I flipped out of 2 man raft and was pulled under the rapids. Swam to the top and tried to get pulled back on the raft but then last rapid sucked me under again. Ended up dislocating finger in 2 places, and fracture. Was in shock, amazing people helped me and got me to St.Charles where they said they see accidents often. Am still healing up from fracture, bruises, cuts from rocks. Over $6,000 Hospital bill and surgery recommended as my finger, arm, elbow have not healed properly. No alcohol and was wearing the appropriate attire. Lesson learned that rapids of all kinds, river, rocks can be dangerous. Be extra safe!! There was a death a year ago, man floating with tube drowned. Also surfer drowned. Only learned of this from Hospital staff who said they see a lot of people coming in for injuries....
