The atmosphere has a very art deco, cozy feel. We arrived at 7:30 PM and had a 25 minute wait. That wasn't a problem, because we were able to find seats at the bar. The young bartender with blonde hair was under so much pressure to keep up with the orders while her counterpart, selectively assisted. We sat at the corner of the bar and we're able to observe this. For example, he asked the people next to us if they needed anything, waited for them to say no then looked to me and asked the same. I, actually, requested the check for our 2 martinis. He told me, "One moment" and walked away from the bar. Thankfully, the young, busy, blonde was watching all angles of the bar, caught it. She brought the check right over, as she saw we were ready to be seated by the hostess. We felt he was new, so we didn't put much energy into it; however, this was a missed opportunity.
The hostesses were kind when seating us. Our waitress, Leydy, has so much potential, however, she introduced moments of rapid decline in service. She introduced herself, but she failed to offer water or introduce the specials. We were only aware of the specials, because we overheard the young blonde bartender introduce them to the group of 4 seated behind the 2 of us. We, again, overlooked this, because the restaurant was busy.
We ordered our appetizers and approximately 10 minutes later, we ordered our entrees. Leydy's facial expression and body language displayed a level of tartness, because we asked about the poutine with the steak and we asked about the preparation. Sadly, we realized her demeanor was more of confusion, because she simply didnt know what poutine was and she wasnt used to people asking questions about the menu, because most items are spelled out. I, kindly, expressed that we just drove into town and poutine is made differently and it was interesting to see it served with a fried steak. She hit me with, "Oh, Ok" which is universally "Ok, whatever". Our curiosity was met with an energy shift. Leydy said that she wouldn't fire it to the back until the apps hit the table. We were in no rush and were fine. Apps were delivered minutes later, she stopped by 15 minutes after and asked if we were OK. We were fine, but we placed an order for a bottle of wine. Here, we learned that the prices online are not the same as the prices in the restaurant. We understand that this may have not been updated. We were fine and still ordered the wine.
10 minutes after the wine order was placed, Leydey was bussing a table. She stopped by to see which bottle of wine we wanted, because she noticed it wasn't on the table yet. She forgot and that's Ok. They are busy. The entrees arrived and 5 minutes after the bottle of wine arrived. Still, no water offered.
Dinner was pretty good. Portions are a lot smaller than some of the images depicted. The flavors made up for the expectation.
Leydy may be one of the cancers of this establishment. We were an interracial, gay couple. Her communication was pointed towards one over the other. When we finally did receive water, the cup made a loud slamming sound. I don't think we were supposed to ask her for water.
We overlooked all these things throughout the evening because we were tired from the drive, they were busy, the food was good. Even with the energy shift, we both agreed to the 20% tip until she brought the check. She literally did a pass by, slap on the table and keep it moving. We believe the reason was because she didn't wanted to be confronted about the automatic 18% gratuity. While that was unsettling, we assumed it was a reason for this. She could've easily won us over with service and gained the 25 or 30% tip. From her name to the red framed glasses, we assumed we had a winning waitress.
We are sorry we interrupted Leydy's shift. I am also sorry that we don't have the name of the blonde bartender, but she was the highlight of our first and last visit here.
Team building under pressure may need to be introduced. Menu education and tastings may need to be introduced to the team for...
Read moreRESPONSE to Reply 1/30/25: Blue Sunday Bensalem continues to deflect blame onto my family and justify their mismanagement.
The manager claims my aunt canceled the reservation on January 10th at 6:13 PM, yet their own screenshot shows that the reservation was modified at 5:43 PM and finalized at 6:20 PM on January 11th âthe exact time we arrived expecting our reservation to be honored. How does a reservation get "finalized" at the same time we were physically present? There was an email on file, yet no attempt was made to reach us through that channel.
Instead of trying to accommodate us, they sat five people in a room that could fit 40, refusing to make reasonable adjustments. The manager was rude and dismissive in real-time. Their so-called âeffortsâ to show us messages were nothing more than a blame game, not a resolution.
The establishment states they do not have a formal contract for reservations. For a business handling large party bookings? Better policies, procedures, and measures need to be in place to avoid distress for customers of their special occasions.
The manager makes a big deal about offering a refund, but the reality is they had no choice âthey failed to deliver the service. A full refund does not erase the stress, frustration, and disappointment of ruining a once-in-a-lifetime event.
At this point, it is clear that there is nothing they're willing to do to rectify the situation. I stand firm in saying that if the roles were reversedâif this were a different type of customer, a different background, a different situationâthis would have been handled very differently. There is no doubt that if the shoe were on the other foot, accommodations would have been made, exceptions would have been granted, and actual effort would have been put in to fix this.
**Review from experience on 1/11/25: I have never been more angry and disappointed with an establishment. I booked Blue Sunday Bensalem months in advance for my motherâs 50th birthday paid a $400 deposit, signed a contract, and confirmed multiple timesâincluding a week before the event when they called to ask if we could move our time. We confirmed for 6 PM and received no further contact.
On the day of the party, I arrived at 5 PM to set up, only to receive a frantic call from a family memberâour reservation didnât exist. My aunt, who also helped plan, went inside and was told the reservation had been canceled. By who? No one could provide proof. First, they said someone called to cancel. Then, they claimed they texted my aunt, but no such message existed. I checked her phone recordsâno email, no texts, nothing. Meanwhile, 40 guests stood outside, confused and waiting.
The manager, Sabrina Quinn, was rude, dismissive, and refused to help. She claimed there was a party of five using the event space and another reservation at 9 PMâso where did our 6â8 PM reservation go? No explanation. No effort to accommodate. After a heated back-and-forth, they finally refunded my deposit, but only as a "one-time courtesy."
This night was supposed to be specialâmy mother recently lost her only son, my brother, and birthdays have been hard for her since. I wanted to give her a beautiful, memorable night with loved ones. Instead, we were humiliated, left scrambling to find another venue last minute.
If you value professionalism, reliability, and basic human decency, I wouldn't book here. I made sure to contact via...
Read moreLet me start off by saying that the ambience is beautiful and very well decorated. The customer service is outstanding, the wait staff give attention to the tables in a timely manner. However I took issue with the bathroom; there are only two stalls and the decor is not as pretty as the open area of the restaurant so that is a negative for me. Now for the star of the show; the food.... The appetizers were amazing! The rock shrimp, crab dip, and the crab bruschetta delicious! Now I will be very honest with you about the entrees we ordered, I was told the lamb chops were amazing as well as the sauce it came with, the curry fried rice did not taste like curry at all and had no spice ( I tried it) and she was right, I'm used to eating spicy food and I've had authentic Curry from Indian and Jamaican restaurants. So I get that Curry flavor and spice this dish did not have that. The seafood Alfredo was over cooked seafood and all (I tried it) she was right. The noodles should have been cooked al dente and the Alfredo sauce should have been more creamy and flavorful . Now I ordered the seafood platter which consisted of a crab cake, fish ( didn't ask what type), shrimp, and scallops with a side of fried rice. I was excited for this dish because seafood is my absolute favorite; but this platter was disappointing. The crab cake had more filler than crap meat and it was not very well seasoned, I've had amazing crab cakes from a few restaurants and they use more crab meat than filler with a generous amount of seasonings, I tasted more of the filler than I did the crab. The fish was very bland and needed seasoning, ( we asked the waiter for salt and pepper) The shrimp were pretty good but the scallops were not again, no seasoning. The best food I had from my order was the fried rice which was amazing. Now, due to our disappointment with our food, the manager gave us a free dessert. My sister was told that they tried out a new chef so that may be the reason why the food was so bland. I'm not sure but my sister is a regular there so she knows what the food tasted like before. All in all, I would definitely say that I would return back to this restaurant. The customer service and the ambiance alone were amazing but I will only return back for the appetizers. I know this review was a little long guys but just wanted to let you know...
