This was my first time staying in a Spark by Hilton My overall review of this hotel is mixed. Checking into the hotel was super easy. The lobby is clean and inviting the front desk staff were super friendly and courteous.
One thing that stands out about the hotel is just how long the hallway is. It kind of reminds me of a runway at an airport if you’re wondering, is it really that long the answer is yes !!! The rooms are fresh and new. I was really impressed the overall quality of the room, some worthy notations were the power adapters that have a charge pad for your phone USB type C and Type A plugs along with two standard plugs one next to the bed and one at the desk the bathroom was well laid out there is an ironing board and an iron in the room as well as a refrigerator and a microwave. The bed was comfortable. I really liked the blanket that was on the bed. It not only kept you cool but it also kept you warm.
The pool area is really nice. It’s big and spacious. They also have a small whirlpool. The gym was also really nice, but small it has one treadmills and a ski machine, cow bells and dumbbells but it’s **missing the following items a bicycle machine as well as music and there are no gym towels all things to consider !!
when it comes to noise in the hotel, that is something that I found to be annoying this is an old hotel that was renovated, and so it has that old lodge kind of feel to it where you can hear the people above you walking around you can hear what’s going on down the hallway the kids at play the housekeepers with their carts the people walking by talking. I was in room 109 which is in the front of the hotel everybody that is in between or at the end of the very long hallway has to pass by your door and so it can get annoying after some time., I unfortunately did not get a good night sleep due to the people that were above me as well as the road noise that is very prevalent in this area.
The bagel bar is an interesting concept unfortunately I found that the selection was somewhat lackluster. I counted three different types of bagels, three different types of cereal, cold yogurt, as well as an apple/orange juice. The bagels have a lot to be desired. There not fresh but frozen I found that the cinnamon raisin was very plain doughy and tasteless. I would recommend going to Dunkin’ Donuts and getting a tasty bagel with cream cheese and the coffee rather than eating at the bagel bar.
I was really excited to try Spark By Hilton. It’s a really nice product with lots of pluses and a few minuses. Overall, I think this is an excellent value for the economy traveler or an over night stay but if you’re looking for that luxury feel unfortunately you will not find it here, but if you are looking for a clean comfortable room, that’s well appointed that is clean and new then look no further than Spark...
Read moreOverall, it is very good for a cheaper hotel. The room was clean and comfortable. Mini fridge (no freezer) and microwave. No coffee maker. Bathroom was a bit cramped, but the water pressure and temperature was good. Our bath tub stopper (cheap popup from Amazon as best I could tell) didn't work, but when we reported it, they sent late night maintenance. Our toilet ran when we showed up, but they fixed it. Our door wouldn't close on its own (it required an additional shove/tug each time) not they promised to fix that. Exercise area is decent, but really only for a few people at a time at most. Pool was out of commission all weekend, apparently due to a vomiting child, and contrary to the website, is not 24 hours.
Breakfast was simple Continental, no meat, but pretty decent. I especially want to call out Rosa, who made our breakfast experience excellent. She made cheerful conversation, answered questions and fetched items on request, and even helped carry food and drinks for small children to prevent spills. The one time that we had something hit the floor, she was there before we can even start cleaning it up.
One other issue, the walls are thin. We heard the surrounding rooms every night, as well as every person running up and down the halls (there was both a wedding party and a family reunion our weekend). If you can tolerate sleeping in earplugs, it may...
Read moreMy husband and I used Spark as our hotel block for our wedding at Pen Ryn. We did most of the planning with Samantha, who was truly wonderful. Samantha was responsive, organized, communicative, and in general, so kind. I was able to use a part of the newly renovated conference room to get ready, which was perfect. We also had our afterparty there, and the space was just right. Samantha had even set up some decorations and balloons! The main frustration we had with the hotel was on the actual day of the wedding when Samantha was not there. Our welcome bags were not passed out to all the guests in the room block (at the end of the wedding night, only about half the bags were given to guests), and some of the guests had trouble checking in - they would receive a message that their room was ready, but couldn't access it yet. The front desk was not particularly helpful in resolving these issues. These were certainly frustrating, but I would still recommend the Spark to couples looking for a room block largely because of how Samantha handled so much of the planning - from sending lists of the guests booked to organizing the patio and conference room as a weather back-up plan to even designing and printing a shuttle sign for us based on our wedding theme. She was so thorough, so it was a bummer to have a less desirable experience with...
