We chose this place randomly because we were in the area & because it was way past noon & my fiancée & I were very hungry. Upon entering, we were told we could sit anywhere. Our choices were either a hightop table (which we don't like) or a table with a church pew(?) for a bench. When my fiancée tried sitting on the pew side, she found the seat was too low for the table, so we both had to sit next to each instead (I realize now as I write this, that no one was sitting on the church pewswhich should tell the owners something). I had to wash my hands before eating & found they had a small space heater plugged in next to one of the sinks (big safety hazard) in the ladies room & the hot water wasn't working in any of the sinks. Our order was taken a little while after I got back to our table (the menu is printed on the placemats & the food is pub fare, so nothing fancy). I ordered a cheeseburger (which the menu said came with either crinkle or curly fries, so I opted for the curly fries) with lettuce, tomatoes, onions, pickles & mustard. My fiancée ordered the crab soup & an order of crinkle fries. We were here on a Sunday when the Eagles were due to play at 4PM, but we got here a little past 3 & thought we would be out long before it got "crazy" especially since it wasn't busy & loud when we got there. We waited for our food for almost 20 minutes & when it finally came, my fiancée's soup wasn't very hot, my burger had mayo instead of mustard & my curly fries didn't come out. Because we waited so long & were so hungry, we didn't complain although we did ask about my fries. Our waitress, a young girl, apologized & said they would be right out. They weren't. We had to ask a second time & by the time she brought them out, I was finished with my burger--I had to ask for a box to take them home. Then, when she gave us the bill, we had to ask why she had charged us over $6 for my fries, which were supposed to be included with my burger? She again apologized & said she would take it off our bill. By this time, it was after 4 & the volume on the TVs had been cranked up to the max so it was pretty loud in there & more & more people were coming in wearing their Eagles gear which leads me to believe, this is what this place is probably best for: to watch a game, while drinking beers & maybe eating some wings. Nothing more since the "more" is what they could not give us. Will not...
Read moreI have to say im a little disappointed in my visit here. we walked in on a saturday afternoon and had no idea if we seat ourselves or wait to be seated. employees were walking by us not saying a word when it was obvious we were not sure if we should just sit at a table or not. The place was not busy at all, yet the service was very unattending. everytime the waitress came to see us, which was not often, as we were talking asking for things she was walking away. We ordered drinks and wings and pretzels. We barely got done ordering that and she was walking away, as she was walking away we were trying to tell her we want bluecheese for the wings. I will say the wings were outstanding and i got excited about the food, however my excitement did not last long at all. Once we got the waitress attention again to finally order sandwiches, we ordered cheesesteak and crab cake sandwich. The cheese was not good at all, greasy, small amount of steak, absolutely zero salt or pepper or flavor of any kind. WAWA has a better cheese steak, sorry but its true. my fries were krinkle cut and looked good but were gummy on the inside and not crispy. My wife said the crab cake was good, but it was served with no cocktail or tarter sauce or nothing. we had to ask for sauce for it. I had to find the waitress to order another beer and she also never asked my wife if she wanted another drink or anything. we sat and watched the football game for a while while The waitress once again went MIA on us and it took us forever to get our check. While waiting a abnormal amount of time to get my check, i paid with a 100, the waitress was going back and forth and from working in the restaurant business years ago, she made sure to only give me larger bills (20) with my change and no smaller bills to try to get a bigger tip. Im sorry but i will not be returning back to this bar. Its a shame because i have heard good things about it. If you want good wings i would say order take out. dont waste your time going for any other food or drinks. for what we paid we...
Read morewe meaning the people of the area, miss the Bar before it turned into Curran's the nothing special Bar. No history to the people who spent years there. I grew up at the merc as most of us know it as. My Uncles were the Norm's of the place the bartender JIM was everyone friend. Even as a kid I enjoyed eating my lunch there best chilli in town, not to mention my cousins and I loved shuffle board we could play for hours while listening to the music and preying that night wouldn't come, because that's when it became an adults only bar. Curran's can stay open for the next 100 years but it'll never be the cheers of Bensalem again. Granted all the old customers are now just up the road a little further at what was the Audalusia bar and grill, Now know as Stadium Bar & Grill. But on a positive note Curran's looks nicer and the Brick work is BEAUTIFUL. Which means something coming from a grill who spent a lot of her childhood on job sites watching masons come in to their own as they learned how to go from labor to mason. So good job on picking a crew who could...
