I read this was the last Henry's Hamburger location still open. It was a large chain back in the 50's, 60's and 70's and quite popular. So I saved it to my map folder of must try locations so if we were in the area we could try it.
Well we were in the area and went by to try it. You have got to be kidding me! I bought a triple cheeseburger for $7.99 and a double cheeseburger for $5.66. When they handed us the bag it was light as a feather. I handed it to my husband and we looked at each other like you have got to be kidding!
Went to the car I opened up the double cheeseburger. It had 2 patties, 1 slice of cheese, minced rehydrated onions, 2 pickle slices and mustard and mayo. The double cheeseburger was the size of McDonalds value menu McDouble and also had the exact same items on it! The McDonald McDouble is $2.79 and tastes much better than the Henry's double cheeseburger for $5.66. On to the triple cheeseburger! McDonalds triple cheeseburger has same ingredients as Henry's triple burger. The McDonalds triple cheeseburger is $4,29 and Henry's is $7.99. Unbelievable! There are no words, all I can do is shake my head in disbelief. Oh how I wish we had time to go by a McDonalds so I could get a triple and double cheeseburger and take photos of them side by side. They are the same size and same ingredients!
So the cost at Henry's with tax of a triple and double that I paid was $14.47.
The cost at McDonalds with tax for a triple and double cheeseburger is $7.51.
It is up to you ...... but paying double for the same thing I can get somewhere else for half the price and not to mention tastes better ...... well that is a no brainer.
Guess it's your choice. Nostalgia? Or...
Read moreI went to the drive through at approximately 7:55pm. By 8:08pm I was enroute to home. I wanted to eat my sandwich while driving and the pictures is what I had received, AT ALMOST CLOSING! The pictures actually make the sandwich look decent so imagine what it actually looked like and how disgustingly dry the meat and bread was! At 8:14pm I called the store for a resolution to be met by an answering machine although there were at least 3-4 employees in the store upon my departure (But perhaps employees don't answer the phones-understandbly). So close to closing, I would have expected to receive a fresh sandwich seeing as I sat there waiting for fries to cook. I don't think any of the employees working this shift would expect to go to a restaurant to pay for food so old that it isn't worth feeding an animal. I HOPE the owners do not condone poor food service and I trust the staff is aware that serving out of timed food is a safety hazard. Imagine if I was an employee of the board of health! Perhaps everyone in the store needs to be ServeSafe certified but whether or not, at the east they should be decent about the food they serve. For the cost of Henry's Hamburgers, customers should get better quality food service than this. Seeing as I live close to 20 miles away, I'm extremely disgusted by this experience. Update: I left a message on the answering service that day and after two months, I have not received a call back. Edited I gave two stars for fresh hot fries initially, but removed one for failure to provide...
Read moreI was at Henry's today. I'm very very old school. I was very disappointed at what I found.
I ordered a double hamburger, fries and onion rings. My order came quickly.... But the price for the tiny portions left me cold. $11+ Tiny hamburgers could not be seen outside the bun as in your publicity shot. (maybe they were ashamed and hidin'?) Fries were good, but no salt? Onion rings were sparce and again no salt? Burger meat was dry and wayyyyyy overcooked!
The thing that really upset my experience was the type employees there. Loud boisterous laughter and the F word coming out of each and everyone's mouth! This is unacceptable.
I saw Dave Slavicek comment about great employees. (Burger Beast blog) If he thinks they're great? He's crazy!
If Dave is winding down into retirement and killing the business at the same time? Keep going......
If you want to keep business going? Expand? Increase portion size by 1/3 and don't increase price.. Fire thug staff.
I won't be...
