Matthew was my sales person. The door was opened late, a few minutes after 10:00. Matthew was very helpful and patient in showing me all the lift chair models. Unable to make my decision then, I looked at models in a second furniture store. Found nothing comfortable there. I was most comfortable with one of the models at Slumberland so called them to complete the transaction on the phone. When I was put on hold waiting for Matthew to come to the phone, a dreadful sounding music was pounding thru the phone. It would be very beneficial if your “on hold” music was changed to something pleasant like a cheerful Mozart composition. Matthew very ably assisted me in making my purchase.

Went in looking for a comfy recliner I could sink into and couch to snooze on. We wondered the floor for a bit testing some things out. After about 20min (loved that we weren't hawked as soon as we came in)our sales lady Kay came over. Greeted us and made some suggestions. She was spot on on recommendations. And made a few really good suggestions. Not to mention memorial day sales. Bought a recliners and a couch. Yet to be delivered but great experience. UPDATE. Had our couch, recliner and ottoman for few months now. so far so great, delivery drivers were great and furniture is really comfy.

Unethical Example #1 We had been searching for furniture for about a year. Slumberland then had a remodeling sale, so we decided to go ahead and get the furniture we had been eyeing. When we had originally looked at the furniture, it was marked as $2,639.99 and we had taken a picture. When we arrived at the sale, that same furniture was marked as over $5,000, but had been crossed out because they were "slashing prices". The sales person then told us he could give us a great deal. You can imaging our surprise when the great deal was over $3,000, more than $400 than what we had looked as several times over the past year. When my wife told him we had looked at this a year ago, he said he would get the manager to see if he could give us a better deal. They then did reduce the price to $2,400, but had we not known what the price was originally, I am completely convinced we would have paid a higher price during their "sale". Example #2, when the furniture was delivered ($100 delivery fee, important in another example), it had been ordered incorrectly by the store. No big deal, right? They will make it right. We went to the store and they did not want to re-order the correct piece for us. We had ordered a sectional with a loveseat attachment, but what we got was a chair instead and it did not include the attachment piece. They wanted to get us an extra chair claiming that 2 chairs = 1 loveseat. We kept explaining that they would not connect and that was not what we ordered. After becoming obviously irritated by this, they finally conceded that they would order us the correct piece. Example #3 The sales person then took us to the floor, presumably to identify what we really wanted. He then asked us if we would be willing to take the floor model, instead of having a new piece ordered. I really believe he may have been trying to help us get the replacement piece quicker, but I also think it may have been to prevent ordering us a new piece. We obviously declined to accept the floor model, which during our visit when we ordered we were told it had been on the floor for "5 years", to prove it is durable furniture. Example #4 We were told the replacement furniture would be in on Friday. After not hearing anything on Friday, I called them and they told me it would be in Tuesday. After not hearing anything Tuesday, I called them and they told me it would be in Friday. After not hearing anything I called them to find out it had arrived, but was marked as pickup, even though I had paid for delivery. The lady was very helpful and said they would very likely deliver it Saturday because of the issues. She left a note on the managers chair to try to make sure it made it on one of the trucks to be delivered. On Saturday I didn't hear anything, so I called. The manager answered and told me it would not be delivered until Thursday. I asked her about the note, she did get it, but now both trucks had left and my furniture was not on it, so Thursday unless I want to pick it up. I asked if she would waive the delivery fee, since they had not fulfilled the delivery and she told me she could only waive half of it. I asked her if she understood the issues I'd had getting this replacement piece and I told her about it all. She apologized and said all should could do was half.

I finally went with my neighbor and his minivan and got by missing piece rather than wait an additional 5 days to potentially get incorrect furniture again. Luckily, it was correct. Who knows if I will actually get any discount on the delivery.

Started out okay, but went downhill FAST! We bought a 5-piece table and chair set (4 chairs + 1 table) and 2 additional chairs. We asked if it could be held until we moved a couple of months later, which was no problem. However, when time came for delivery, they showed up with 5 chairs, not 6. Both the delivery driver AND the store clerk (when we called) told us repeatedly that we ordered 5, not 6 chairs. We explained that it was a “5” piece set, but that we ordered 2 additional chairs because there are 6 people in our family – not to mention 6 places at the table. THANK GOD I KEPT THE RECEIPT! The first line clearly shows the purchase of a “5” piece set, and the next line clearly shows the purchase of 2 additional chairs. All was well, problem resolved – or not. An hour later we got a call from the store manager questioning us about the 2 chairs, once again saying we only purchased 5. I was asked to take a picture of the receipt and email it to the store, even though they supposedly had a copy in the computer. We explained the whole thing again, and were told that the chair would be ordered, but that it would be another month. After more than a month with no word from the store, we called to inquire when the chair would arrive. The sales clerk told us there was a back-up at the manufacturer, and that they weren’t sure when it would be in. Fine, but it would have been nice to receive a follow-up call with that information. Instead, 30 minutes later, we received a call from the manager and were told AGAIN that we only ordered 5 chairs!!! SERIOUSLY?? After going through the whole explanation again, we were assured the chair would be in soon (even though we were told a month 30 minutes prior). We asked that they didn’t deliver it, but that they call us once it was assembled at the store and we would pick it up. When the day came to pick up the chair, my husband went to pick it up and the clerk brought out a chair that was scratched up and clearly NOT new. When asked about it, the clerk explained that the new chair had not yet been assembled and that this one was the floor model. My husband refused the chair, so the clerk brought out ANOTHER floor model – this one having a huge oil stain on the seat. Unbelievable! My husband left, telling the clerk to call him when the new one was assembled - as we had already requested previously. As my husband was driving away, he was chased down by the clerk who explained that the chair WAS there after all, but that he hadn’t been able to find it at first because someone had put it in the wrong spot. Every person we dealt with, from beginning to end, was completely incompetent and the customer service from even the managers was underwhelming. The whole incident is unfortunate because we bought a beautiful set and we love the way it looks in our home. God forbid we ever have to use the 5-year warranty plan we purchased. After one of our recliners failed in October, my family decided to give Slumberland a shot and began looking for a couch to replace our recliners. Marty is a manager at the store and did a fantastic job helping us decide on what we wanted and locate a perfect floor model that was on sale for a great price, lower than we had been planning to spend. The couch was delivered in just over a week, and upon delivery the electronics did not function at all, though had in the store. The management at Slumberland, one of whom delivered the couch, was easy to work with and they quickly assured us they would make it right with a new model from the manufacturer. This new model was delivered by a third party company, who during the delivery warned us that the Slumberland store is full of 'effing idiots' and they likely caused the first couch to not work. On this second delivery, they had issues disassembling the new couch and ended up damaging the frame and shearing some wires underneath. In less than 36 hours of the second couch being delivered, it too began no longer working. I went to the store rather than call and spoke to Marty who sold me the couch as well as the storehouse manager who delivered the first one. They apologized and again assured me they would make it right. A third couch was delivered by their in-house team this time, and it had one sides headrest not functioning. The delivery techs told us to call for a service tech ticket this time, and then told us that from a purchase before ours they had already decided to stop selling this couch, and apparently we were sold something they knew was a hassle, but they wanted it off their floor. We got the ticket submitted before they left. The next morning, we found even more functions (not all) not working on the third couch now. I went in that morning and was told I cannot get a refund on the couch until it has been picked up, meaning those funds cannot be used to buy a replacement unless from them again, without waiting for the couch to be taken back. This leaves me in a situation where I either try them a fourth time with a new model or I am stuck with no living room furniture for the holidays for my family. The only solutions they could provide me were trying to sell me more expensive couches, or try selling me couches I find deals for at other stores (such as Ashley's Warehouse or LZ Boy). I decided at that point to cut the middle man, requested my refund, and went and got a brand new couch from LZ Boy taking advantage of their black friday sales.

There are some nice people working at Slumberland. But Slumberland is a low-quality money grabbing reseller, whose savings do not justify the hassle and low quality you end up with. Find a reliable brand and go direct, was my takeaway from the last month or so of back and forths with...
