I’m here almost weekly and this is why: good coffee, simply but yummy food menu, and WiFi! Things to be aware of: frequently busy, expect waits and longer lines, also there is limited seating with outlets nearby for power source is you’re there to study or work. Expect to spend $12-16 per person for a drink, foods, and tip.
Details: Love the breakfast sandwich! It’s my go-to, because I love a croissant with coffee and the sandwich has an egg for that protein boost in the morning. The spread they use on this is amazing - not too much, it’s just slightly tangy, and really makes this awesome. I also thoroughly enjoy the avocado toast (I AM a millennial after all), again, simple but elevated. Whatever little extra stuff they sprinkle on this (vinaigrette?) it’s divine. Have had it get overly salty with the sprinkle seasoning. They have run out of avocado before and this wasn’t available. Bet that was a dangerous day, because 75% of the menu has avocado involved.
Coffeeeeee I will literally get a hot and cold coffee because why not. Please do yourself a favor and get a pour over. The nitro cold brew is delicious but one day that was broken and they did regular coffee over ice. I’ll be honest, it was fine, but next time I’d just get hot coffee if the nitro isn’t available.
Also, even on busy weekends, if you didn’t get your order in 15 minutes, go ask on it. Was there waiting for 30-45 minutes, trying to be patient and understanding about the obvious rush but no, they just never put the food order in. Was literally sitting right in front of the order booth the whole time. Came out in like 5 minutes or less once we asked on it. Appreciated that it was refunded, just know that even for three items they should be able to crank those out fairly fast.
WiFi - as a remote worker free WiFi and a good spot is a godsend. If you have video chats or need higher speeds, this is not your spot, but that’s to be expected. What I’ve found is most of the areas that have a power source nearby are all high-top seating with stools. I’m am an elder millennial, so some back support is nice for the four hours I need to slave away at my laptop. I haven’t thoroughly scoured every inch of this place (cause that’d be weird) but if you wanted to get a few hours in, just know you might be alternating seating to stay charged/get that lumbar support.
You gotta leave the shop for bathrooms but they’re super clean and nice.
Finally, trash cans dude. The trash slot is at the bar by the coffee pick up - small round hole in counter. Doesn’t fit all the boxes. I feel weird smashing my small breakfast box down that hole. Like, I wanna punch it down but that’s not really socially acceptable. But I guess neither is a review this long and detailed. Here we are. That trash can is over by the back and I have seen that thing stacked/overflowing with boxes. Didn’t see trash cans readily available outside either, even though there’s a ton of...
Read moreWent here this past weekend after seeing a review that said that this was the BEST coffee experience that the reviewer had ever had. We put the address into the GPS and we were on our way.
The inside looks really cool and expensive. There's a neat neon sign. There are cool modern tables, a pretty, penny tiled bar and various types of seating for getting work done or chatting. There is also additional outdoor seating.
I was part of a party of four and after looking over the menu, two of them declined to order anything. We purchased two drinks to go, one hot, one iced.
My husband got a flat white. He's had flat whites everywhere, including New Zealand so he knows what they taste like. He said his drink was tasteless. Perhaps it was a watery shot?
Prior to ordering I told the cashier that I have celiac and was wondering if they knew if their salt mocha was gluten-free. The cashier asked someone pulling shots, and then said, "ahh I'm pretty sure it is." It was already after 3 PM and all I'd had the entire day was a cookie and a scone from down the street. I shouldn't have trusted it, but I went ahead with my order.
What came out was a drink that tasted like chocolate milk. I was about a third of the way through it when my stomach started to hurt, so I told my non-celiac family member to finish the drink. They also said it tasted like chocolate milk. Did it contain gluten? Not sure. Possible cross-contamination issues perhaps?
Be warned, while it is disclosed on the lower corner of the menu, they have one of those junk fees tacked on for employee benefits. Labor costs are the cost of doing business and should be calculated into the menu price (which is exactly why Sacramento, California is outlawing these junk fees.)
"Businesses use hidden fees or junk fees to pitch an artificially low headline price to attract a customer before revealing additional charges," - Eleanor Blume, California's assistant attorney general.
Don't have an artificially lower price to entice customers and then have the real cost come out at the register. Have all your labor costs, rent, ingredients, profit margins all factored into your advertised menu price and then have separate line items for each type of tax being charged. Being transparent with customers about pricing is not rocket science.
Would I agree with the poster that this was the best coffee experience I've ever had? No. Was it offensively bad where it warrants a 1 star?...
Read moreMy review will include details on parking, large groups, small kiddo friendliness, atmosphere, food/drink, overall experience, etc.
We had a party of 10 show up at two different points in the same week while on a family trip. Some of our group consisted of 2 Tweens and 3 Toddlers 3 and under. So our experience may prove helpful to large groups or families who plan on going here.
This place has some of the best coffee and food I have ever had and with that comes an understandably long line, limited inside table seating availability, limited parking, etc.
The staff were all very kind, well dressed, and had wonderful personalities. Which might seem strange to say but I had to pause and ask myself if id stumbled onto a coffee commercial set lol. If it is to busy inside they have a cool robot barista outside you can grab a quick cuppa from.
I ordered the avocado toast and their Hail Fellow Well Met coffee on both visits because i was obsessed at first sip/bite and i hyperfocus on the things i like... (why yes i will go back someday and get the same thing again even though its 6 hours away thanks for asking)
When the kiddos were getting a bit rowdy they have some great outdoor seating. Be aware it is near a street so dont take your eyes off of those littles.
Parking is tough. You can try your luck at on street parallel parking, or at a parking garage to the adjacent Walmart but it is survival of the fittest for parking and locals are unapologetic about snaking into a spot you've been waiting for. Meh, It happens. We got there eventually.
A wonderful FREE ammenity within easy walking distance i would recommend is the Walmart Museum. Grab your cuppa and take a walk through Walmart's history. Lots of benchs throughout if you need a rest while getting there.
Highly recommend. Idk if anyone will read this but seriously try my coffee order if you want liquid happiness and...
