BOMB BURGER — Restaurant in Bergenfield

My husband, seven-year-old daughter and I popped in to Bomb Burger after we finished up a softball game at a nearby field. We had never eaten here, and decided to give it a try. We were impressed by the number of options on the menu. Everything was cooked to order and incredibly fresh. I had the caramelized onion cheeseburger. My husband had a loaded burger and our daughter had a plain cheeseburger. All extremely delicious to the point we all said- “wow that is really good!” out loud. Our daughter who is very picky with food gave her meal a 10 out of 10 which says a lot. We couldn’t give enough compliments about our burgers and fries (which were very crispy with the perfect amount of seasoning).

We had an opportunity to speak with the owner who came out to ask us how our meal was and to see if we need anything. Not something we would expect at a burger “joint”. However, Bomb Burger is not like your typical burger place where they yell out your number to pick up your food. They nicely carry it out to you and see how you are doing. It was a great experience overall.

Stopped by to grab a burger and I was instantly greeted with the sweetest smile from the cashier. She had brown skin and was wearing braids and she was so kind and patient with me when she was taking my order. I got the impossible burger and it was delicious! While I was waiting for my food, a man, who I presume to be the owner started chatting with me and he was really kind as well. I appreciated him greeting me and making friendly conversation. Customer service seems to be such a lost art these days and I always appreciate it because I worked in hospitality for years. I’ll definitely be back everything was fresh and tasted great. They did leave the bomb sauce on my burger after I explicitly asked for no sauce but it didn’t ruin the experience for me.

Apparently the wings here are really good as well. While I was waiting for my food, there was a couple who had ordered them and dined in to eat them. They ordered more to go because they were that good. I can’t wait to come back and try these too.

As a burger critic, this was a mediocre experience. While the burger wasn’t bad, it also wasn’t stellar in any way. Though, I felt Wendy’s would win out in both quality and value.

Two things really bothered me during my visit:

1. selling prepackaged milkshakes — this is the exact milkshakes they’d sell at a wawa, but with a markup.
2. the service was rather poor. The cashier made the wrong milkshake and called out the mistake himself. That’s no problem. But when my burger came out, the one i got was the regular when i asked and paid for the speciality burger. The cashier said i ordered the former, though agreed to add bacon on top to appease me. I still didn’t get what i ordered, but at that point i just wanted to eat my meal and be done with it.

Tldr - paid $20 for a mid burger, a cashier that gaslit me, and an unsatisfied appetite. I ended up picking up Wendy’s right after because the food wasn’t enough (first time ever going for a second round of dinner 😢). Will likely never be...
