I came here on July 3, it was a Monday Dinner buffet. It was semi packed. It is run by Asians and in my opinion that is who they cater to. When I came in, they put a group of Asian customers right next to the food bar. They tried to put me all the way in the back corner on hard table seats. I said No, Ill take a booth. Then they put me in a booth with the Sun glaring in my eyes. When I tried to explain this to one of the waitresses, she said I had to talk to the front lady like she couldnt understand me or speak English. Anyhow, The front lady didnt know how to operate the blinds to the windows, then she tried to move me back in the back corner. I said No again, and sat myself at an open booth next to the food bar next to the group of Asian customers. Not long after I sat myself and company, another non-asian couple also moved themselves into the main area where I was sitting also trying to avoid the sunlight in their eyes. Now to the food part. They have 5 food bars and 1 freezer of ice creams. Their Kimchi was pretty good, very spicy. They also had crabmeat in cheese, it wasnt bad. I tried their beef and brocolli, pretty bland flavor for the beef. Same goes for the LA ribs, no flavor. I did like their Chicken Teriyaki but didnt want to fill up on that. Their hot wings were pretty good too. The seafood boil was okay, all i remember was you have to take the head off shrimp to eat it along with shell. They have a freezer for ice cream, not soft serve. It was generic ice cream in a cup, chocolate, vanilla, and strawberry. They also had ice cream sandwiches, and some type of ice cream on a stick. They had a korean bbq, where they cook your food in front of you from food bar of raw ingredients right next to it, you just fill a plate their and ask them to cook it. They have a little sign in cardboard box sign that is hard to see behind a plastic cover that says 'Ask for BBQ' that is suppose to explain this process. I only found out because I was checking out this beautiful superfine latina woman in high heels just standing around next to Korean BBQ with a plate and explaining to her girlfriend the process. Overall, I liked the place even though I was too full to try the Korean BBQ it was too late by the time I found it, if only there was another goddess standing their in the beginning before I got full of the regular BBQ buffet. I will come back again and make sure to seat myself in the main area. oh yeah, in the main area, the waitress was much faster at clearing the plates off the table and asking if i want refills...
Read moreOriginally didn’t have high expectations from this place and I was correct. From the moment you walk in, atmosphere looks great, newly decorated all new furniture compared to previous buffet restaurant. Was greeted with friendly but poorly trained staff who looked super flustered (opening weekend also so we understood). We waited about 40 mins before we followed up again to see why we weren’t seated yet. As soon as we got in, the waiters apologized about the wait and were super clean and sanitized everything before we sat. The service was the only reason why I gave any stars, they were super kind and friendly despite everything going on, all servers attended to each other’s tables and were all helping one another. The problems seem to stem from their kitchen and poor timing (understand they’re new) Appetizers didn’t come in until the boil did. When we asked for sides of sauces since we weren’t happy with the one we had they said they ran out. They also forgot to certain items in our boil. The spice level is close to nothing so if you don’t like spicy this is your place. We went with the recommendation of calamari and also decided to do scallops and a boil on our own choice. The calamari was the only decent thing we ate. All the seafood is clearly all frozen not fresh, mushy and tiny bits of pieces. The crab legs wouldn’t even crack because they were so soft and small. The clams weren’t even cooked as all of them were still closed. The sauce for the boil was watery and thin. The sauce had good flavor that was completely watered down and the corn was also frozen previously and sausage wasn’t even cooked through just cut up and thrown in. If you love seafood and had a real boil from the south this place will disappoint you greatly. Since this is a chain restaurant I don’t know if all their other locations have the same preparation of food. Just a complete utter disappointment. Only positive thing was the staff. I do wish them better in the future, probably won’t ever...
Read moreI read reviews some good , some bad and decided to try it for myself, went a sunday night around 8pm. Was some what impressed with the food , how ever certain things they never replaced. Went back 2 weeks later at 7pm figuring the selections would be more filled/ replaced , but alas the sushi area and barbecue were not. Was disappointed the selection was identical to the first time , nothing new the quality so so on certain things , came back a 3rd time on a Tuesday evening around 6pm. The place was fairly empty. The quality was not there , very boring , limited selection , same items , service was poor , originally seated in a place of traffic , asked to move and they told me I could move myself. Oysters on half shell were submerged under water sushi looked very un appetizing, barbecue not very appealing, tried short rib. Paper thin cut basically fat n grizzle. They served a breaded deep fried crab but when you bite into you get peices of shell , hardly any crab meat. No small cocktail forks to get the meat out. If you do not ask for nut cracker you are stuck. Shrimp with head and scales on overcooked and mushy , extremely messy, no wet naps , had to dip napkin in my drinking water to clean my hands. They had baby clams in shell , we'll there were no clams just empty shells, NO VARIETY!!!! Things that do not move taking up precious space. This is a small buffet needs lots of improvements. Unless they improve and make changes, I will not return to the Bergenfield store. SAD AND DISAPPOINTED!!! They need to change up the menu offer different things!!! WET KNAPS FOR CLEANING HANDS , COCTAIL FORKS FOR DIGGING OUT CRAB OR LOBSTER. AND SLICE SHRIMP SO ONE CAN PEEL IT. Left at 9pm Tuesday a lot of food that...
