I've been coming here for over 10 years and it's still good. Very reasonably priced farm-to-table quality fruits and vegetables.
The vegetables are excellent and very fresh. Many times, the supplier's address on the label will indicate a farm or dairy in the tri-state area.
Earlier in the season, they had spring corn, and the trick with spring corn (or any corn, IMHO) is to pick the less mature cobs with smaller kernels. A quick boil/steam results in the most perfect corn ever.
For ground-harvested veggies (cabbage, romaine lettuce, celery, etc) it seems that the product is packed and shipped out as soon as they're picked. So you'll get more sand/soil. Just fill a large bowl or kettle with cold tap water, submerge the vegetable upside down, shake underwater, and lift out upside down. The sand pieces will fall out and stay in the water, and voila! -- clean fresh veggies.
Their authentic ethnic breads are amazing, produced by small area bakers. These are the real deal, not dumbed down for the mediocre palate. Examples: Turkish flat bread (Paterson, NJ) could only have been hand-stretched: Beautifully-shaped large crumb, irresistible when slightly toasted and buttered; Hearty eastern European rye breads make a perfect foil to rich soups and stews.
Dairy. Standard-fare eggs and milk, but they carry a good selection of Latino cheeses, and often fresh feta, and mozzarella (ie. NOT "polly-o" bricks).
Did I say the prices are great? I've often walked out with bags of food, and having paid a little more than $20.
PROS: All the above
CONS: Popular place, so get in at opening time (to get first dibs). At their busiest, lines form even with all registers manned (often with a ringer and a bagger). The wait is not long though,...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWorst customer service ever, I was just there today 4/17/2022. I picked up a watermelon that was precut there was no price on the watermelon, I took it to the cashier and asked for a price check after receiving the price I decided against purchasing the water melon.. the cashier Verónica wanted me to take back the watermelon back to where I got it from, please note I purchased other items I told her it was not my job and suggested for them to have prices on the watermelon that are precut to avoid these kind of situation⦠she rudely began speaking to her coworker next to her in Spanish. Veronica then began attempting to swipe my card as if the card did something wrong to her and when that didnāt phrase me she put all my items in one bag I kindly ask her to either separate my stuff so double the bags.. she showed me a sign saying plastic bags will no longer be provided after 5/4/22 (guess she is slow because clearly itās not 5/4/22 as yet) then she gave me a bag suggesting I do it myself ok no problem still not phrase.. I attempted to open the plastic bag but couldnāt.. lol then she gave me the lemon lol now am confused.. so I kindly ask for a manager because clearly the roles were confused here.. the Spanish speaking began again followed by laughter.. the old me would of just return my items purchased right there and then because maybe Veronica had it confused about me purchasing and not begging.. but i just used this experience as a reminder why I had stop shopping there in the first place.. if you donāt speak the language the customer service is horrible, the products are near rotten and the prices are now horrible.. so am sticking with my Whole Foods and Traders Joe.. Veronica thanks for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI love this store. The prices and selection are great. They have very well proceed fruits and vegetables. They have nice breads and a dairy section among other types of foods. The only downside is that sometimes the quality is poor. It seems like they may be selling the produce that the big grocery chains aren't able to sell. A lot of the fruits have blemishes. The vegetables seem to be quite a bit better though. They also have a flower section which is also very well proceed.
Definitely check out this store, you won't be disappointed. Tends to get very crowded. The parking lot is also busy and not huge so be...
