I recently visited Blue Bottle Coffee in Berkeley, and my experience was a mix of positives and negatives. While the hipster coffee and overall ambiance were enjoyable, there were some notable issues that affected my overall impression of the place.
Let's start with the positives. Blue Bottle Coffee is known for its high-quality, artisanal coffee, and in that regard, they did not disappoint. The hipster vibe permeates the atmosphere, with trendy decor and a unique aesthetic that appeals to coffee enthusiasts. The coffee itself was excellent, boasting rich flavors and a distinct freshness that satisfied my caffeine cravings. Blue Bottle definitely knows how to brew a good cup of joe.
Unfortunately, my experience was hindered by a couple of issues. Firstly, I was disappointed to find that the handicap door was broken. Accessibility is crucial, and it's unfortunate that the door was not functioning properly, as it can make it challenging for individuals with disabilities to enter and exit the establishment comfortably. This is an aspect that should be promptly addressed by the management.
Additionally, another door in the café was also not functioning correctly, failing to open properly. This meant that customers had to navigate around it, causing congestion and inconvenience during peak hours. It's essential for a café to ensure that all doors are in good working condition to avoid such disruptions and provide a smooth customer experience.
Furthermore, I found the staff to be somewhat lacking in their customer service skills. While the quality of the coffee is undoubtedly a highlight, the same level of care and attention did not extend to the interactions with the staff. Their demeanor felt distant and disinterested, and I didn't feel particularly welcomed or valued as a customer. Improving the staff's friendliness and engagement would greatly enhance the overall experience.
In conclusion, Blue Bottle Coffee in Berkeley offers a hipster coffee experience with high-quality brews. However, the broken handicap door and malfunctioning entrance door, coupled with lackluster customer service, detracted from the overall experience. I would recommend the management address these issues promptly to create a more enjoyable and inclusive environment for...

Read moreThis was my first time going to Blue Bottle Coffee and it will be my last time. I went at 1:41pm and I was the only one in line so I am not sure why I had to wait so long to get help with my order but I noticed while I was waiting in line for over 5 minutes the guy behind the counter was so engrossed in his convo with the other coworker that they just ignored me because they saw I was waiting in line and the third finally came to help me at the register but she was not friendly at all and seemed to not want to be bothered. I looked around and the place was not busy so I am not sure why I had to wait so long and after I ordered my drink, it took almost 10 minutes for them to make my mocha. The guy and girl were so busy talking and gossiping that I became irritated and wanted to leave but I paid $7.25 for a drink that was not made very well and lukewarm to boot and all because the employees were too busy yapping away gossiping and forgetting a customer was actually waiting for their drink; very unprofessional. The cashier came off snobby and I felt like they thought they were too good to have their time wasted on actual paying customers. I honestly think Peet’s has better coffee and better customer service and even though Peet’s can get busy I never had to wait that long because employees were too busy gossiping. Lastly, I think Blue Bottle coffee is too expensive for what they...
