We got the burgers and the beet salad which was AMAZING. The burger tasted fresh, good quality beef, good patty size. It came with a generous serving of fries which were simple, crispy, salty, and addictive. Some of the better restaurant fries I’ve had. If you’re a salad person can I recommend the beet salad though?!? The plating was beautiful, I haven’t had anything fancy in a while. I feel like it breathed life back into my tired quarantined soul. The pistachio praline topping added sweet to the sharp flavor of arugula, the apples were also a nice touch with the earthy beets. If I had to eat one salad for the rest of my life I think it could be that one, for sure. We finished the night with their mint chip gelato: rich, creamy, great balance of chocolate to ice cream ratio with smaller shavings/chips as opposed to the large and chunky chocolate I’ve had in others. Like the burger it was a perfect generous portion.
This is also the first restaurant I’ve been to during “covid times”. It was actually a very nice, safe, relaxed experience. We sat outside in the early evening with a heat lamp: not one of the freestanding ones, but a bar lamp from the front of the restaurant so it warmed evenly. The tables are spaced safely, the staff wore masks the whole time so I...
Read moreWent here for a celebration and I liked it so much, I came back the next day for a dessert that turned into 2nd lunch. Initially I had the Camerino with pork sausage ragu and I couldn't put the fork down. For dessert I had the affogato - the espresso is bold, and the gelato is rich, and both extremes created a wonderful dessert. I also got the cookies, and while a bit crunchy and a bit salty, were devoured nonetheless and despite not being my ideal cookie, was one of the best I've had in recent memory. I visited the following day just for dessert. However, I regretted not ordering the gnocchi. It was melt in your mouth delicious. I had a few gripes: there aren't really any appetizers, wasn't offered any complementary bread, and the portion sizes are small, which stings even more considering the former two points. Another nit-pick is the wait staff seemed forgetful which I noticed in both visits - the first evening I could understand as it was a busy evening, but a bit after opening too? That didn't detract from the experience to me, but if you are picky about service, I'd call it okay: they are plenty friendly, but we did have to ask for things multiple times on both visits. But no complaints on quality of food and I will be...
Read moreEDIT: Despite the issues I noted in my review I have decided to change my review from 3 to 4 stars due to the restaurant taking the time and effort to promptly reply to my review. This shows owners who care and I commend that. There are things that could be improved, but good customer service such as this is the path to that.
Visited for the first time ever recently, and sadly my experience did not live up to the expectations I had been told to have. Went here being told it was one of the best Italian restaurants in the Bay Area and left feel like I had eaten a decent but overpriced and overpromised meal. To start with the good things I will say that the staff were very attentive and that the Margherita pizza was quite good. However the salad I had was mediocre at best, the roasted brussels sprouts were also only mediocre at best, and the Crab Ravioli was extremely underwhelming for the price. They also had no fresh bread which is ridiculous for an Italian restaurant. Overall, my dinner was fine but it did not excite or give me great...
