I'm really disappointment with the Donut Farm. I woke up early this morning just to make sure I was there when the shop opened up so I could get a fresh donut. When I got there, I was poorly greeted by the attendant. She exhibited poor, discourteous behavior. For instance, she wasn't attentive, never making any eye contact, and keeping her back to me while mumbling. She then mumbled under her breath. I couldn't hear her because her tone was so low and her back was facing me. So, I asked her to repeat what she said. She seemed agitated and loudly enunciated, "What. Would. You. Like?" I requested the "Top Shelf" maple donut. She grabbed it out of the shelf and tossed it into a bag. When I got home, I found that the donut was tossed into the bag with the icing facing down. So, I had to peel it out of the bag, leaving layers of icing behind.
Furthermore, after mishandling the donut, she stated, "3.50." I placed my card down on the card reader. The tablet was behind the protective screen, so she had to fill in the rest of the information. She loudly stated, "Just tell me what you want." Naturally, I didn't give her a tip. She then mumbled something under her breath. I couldn't make out what she said.
I thought that perhaps she was having a bad day, so I continued to be polite and thanked her for her service while she was walking away. She didn't verbally respond, but instead (with her back toward me) held up a peace sign.
The very poor and insensitive service really rubbed me the wrong way. She was my first interaction of the day, and it set the tone for just a bad day for me.
Moreover, after I peeled the donut from the bag, I took a bite. It was really stale. I threw the rest away.
Before I went to the Donut Farm, I did read the reviews and found some one and two star reviews. Still, I thought I would give it a try. But, the poor reviews were right.
If I were you, I would NOT go to this establishment. I spent half an hour walking back and forth to the Donut Farm. It's not even worth a minute's walk. Save your money...
Read moreI must say that my recent visit to Pepples Donut Farm was nothing short of delightful. From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the charming, rustic atmosphere of the establishment, which is nestled in the heart of Oakland's Temescal neighborhood.
The donuts themselves were truly a work of art, combining unique, inventive flavors with perfectly executed pastry technique. The use of organic, locally-sourced ingredients was apparent in every bite, with the doughnut's texture and flavor profile showcasing the high quality of the ingredients used.
As a linguist, I was also impressed by the creativity and playfulness of the donut names, such as the "Maple Bar" and "Blueberry Buckle". The linguistic creativity was also apparent in the menu descriptions, which were both informative and entertaining.
Moreover, as a culinary arts expert, I was struck by the evident passion and care that went into crafting each and every donut. The team at Pepples Donut Farm clearly understands the importance of attention to detail and the value of using only the freshest, highest-quality ingredients.
Overall, I would highly recommend Pepples Donut Farm to anyone who is looking for an exceptional culinary experience. This is truly a place where passion, creativity, and quality come together to create a truly...
Read moreI wouldn't give this place any stars, but I had to give one at least. I went with a group of 4 because one of us was vegan. There were several things that made this experinece unacceptable. One, we waited at least 30 minutes (or over) to be seated and no one ever came out to notify us of our table. Two, the waiter was very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We asked for some recommendations, from their already small menu. They seemed very unfamiliar with the food. Three, the food took a while to come out and when we had it, it was unappetizing and we were all not impressed. The tofu scrambles were mediocre. The burrito lacked any sort of flavor. The chicken and waffle dish was chewy and a bit cold. Also, there was hardly any gravy. When we finished eating, there was no communication with the staff about our experience. Almost as if they didn't even want to know the truth. We walked away very upset. Vegan food should at least be extra delicious if you are going to overprice simple dishes. Will try, maybe, coming on a weekday. Sandwiches aren't too hard to...
