Wow! This place is remarkable. I was a pain in the butt and ordered a decaf Yemeni latte with oat milk and the person taking my order didn't blink an eye. It was so delicious and now I am sad I didn't get the larger size. The spices are so go with the coffee. I know I should try their other lattes but I think this will be it until the end of time. I liked how it wasn't too sweet and the cardamom was heavenly. The cheesecake is rich, but not overly sweet, either. We had the spinach and onion pastry, actually 2 because we ate the first so fast. There was this layered cheesy pastry the kids loved, and the za'atar (zatar?) bread was delicious. The kids with us ordered hot chocolate (generous sized with whipped cream on top) and chocolate cakes. I got the saffron-covered Turkish delight and it was great and I am looking forward to trying the other flavors or the different baklava. The cafe is spacious and well lit with the huge windows out front. The kids really liked hunkering down in the booth and playing card games. I am pretty sure the Turkish delights are vegan and there are lots of vegetarian options. Prices are very reasonable and the quality...
Read moreI adore this spot. I've been a bunch of times now, and it's really great. I've had the jubani and adeni, but there's just a real medley of options. The adeni is the best I've ever had out of all the spots I've been in the bay so far. Jubani is quite good- it's very simple but really tasty. They have more coffee options than most dedicated coffee shops, and equal variety of tea. I will say- if you are coming here, don't bother with the herbal teas, and I definitely don't think things like adeni are meant to be had iced. They also have nice baklava, really sweet servers, and a good atmosphere. It's less sterile than it looks in the photos, it's really comfortable and a bit cozy.
Will say- the wifi is really weird here. I don't really understand the technology, but my computer says that the internet server is bad or something. I can do work on google docs, but not really any websites. Bring your phone for a hotspot in case this happens...
Read moreI'm a 'coffee shop' and 'cafe' OG. When I moved to this neighborhood, I was immediately disappointed, accordingly. The perfect Vault Cafe is only the next block, at the next intersection, but closes at only 4pm! So i was glad when this one opened, too. However, it's specialized to a Yemeni/Turkish fare, which is done well. I used to frequent a Turkish coffee place when I lived in SF. They lean into STRONG coffee. This one also adds some contemporary "American" styling with non-dairy 'milks', etc. There isn't any table service, with ordering at the counter in the back. Then you make your way to either modest tables in the large open area, or some booths to one side or stool/counter seating at the front window. But it's a nice, open, well lit setting. Conveniently located, open later, quality fare, ...
