I was just saying to folks that it's a neighborhood gem. The only restaurant within many blocks, and it is the perfect solution for breakfast OR lunch. Delicious food; low prices; friendly, caring servers -- thank God it exists! UPDATE: I've now had dinner at FatApple's several times, and it's amazingly good ... a nice variety, but I often order whatever the special is that evening. I defy you to find better prices in Berkeley for the value you get here.

My ultimate favorite place for breakfast! The waffles and mocha are my favorite!!! I was raised on their waffles—I make a point to go every time I’m back I. California. There are not a lot of places around that serve waffles that aren’t Belgian-style. They also have real maple syrup (the cherry on top). Their mochas have a dollop if the best tasting whipped cream I have ever had.

One of my favorite places for brunch. The staff is very friendly here. The coffee is strong enough to jump start a semi truck. French toast is a tradition for my wife and I. It's always something else, and the French toast. The side pastry as an appetizer comes with many of the brunch entrees. They also have a bakery on the side if you want to get some pastries on the go.

If you are thinking of eating here- SKIP IT- you might as well go up the street to Saul's. HORRIBLE!!! I grew up going here and would eat lunch here on special days or get a pastry in the morning before school BUT that is NEVER happening again. The waitress was not friendly and very unaccommodating. She seemed to be mad or unhappy to be at work. I ordered and my food came with coleslaw- I was unaware of it coming with any coleslaw. I can not eat coleslaw so, I asked for french fries she said "NO I will not give you fries, your sandwich comes with coleslaw." I said it was not stated on the menu and explained why I can not eat some of the ingredients in the coleslaw. Then she walked away. I said nothing more for I don't like to argue. My husband got a BBQ sandwich and the BBQ sauce tasted rancid. My mom got a quiche that was only semi warm on the outside and cold inside. WE WILL NEVER GO...

The food used to be great. I went there with friends from out of town thinking it would good. Oh my!!!WRONG. My son took one bite of the Mac and cheese... He cringed from the taste. I took a taste and it was disgusting. Then ordered curly fries. Asked for BBQ sauce. It was cocktail sauce with a unknown flavor mixed in. Horrible. We ordered two ceaser salad add tomato. The dressing was old and disgusting. Then tried to charge me 1.10 for 4 small peices of tomato. What a joke. I'm so embarrassed that I took my friends there. I have to give an honest review. I paid $17+change for a refrigerated burrito NOT FRESH. It was warmed up to the point that I couldn't eat it without burning my tongue. It was scolding hot. Then I was charged 50 cents for salsa. SALSA. I have never, ever been charged for salsa. The staff were awesome and sweet. I think people go there for pies. I will never go back. I officially don't recommend this place for breakfast burritos. The pies might be OK. Oh! The pizza...
