The Cheese Board is a co-op that started as a cheese store, but now also has a beloved bakery and pizzeria (next door). If you are visiting Berkeley, you must stop by the Cheese Board. The bakery is one of the best all-around bakeries in the area -- other places in the East Bay may specialize in a certain type of baked good, but the Cheese Board can make everything well (especially if it has cheese!) If stopping by for the bakery, you must try the signature cheese roll. Otherwise, there is a rotating selection of breads and pastries, some of which were "invented" in house and have special names (wolverines, zampanos, chocolate things, etc.). The bakery items are continually made throughout the day. While waiting in line for the bakery, you can also get a selection of cheese and prepared sauces. The $25 Adventure Bag contains a good choice of random cheeses, and the green hot sauce is also tasty as a condiment/dip. You can buy par-baked pizzas to finish baking at home. The pizzas are always vegetarian and change every day. If you're just visiting, you can get a baked pizza at the pizzeria next door instead. The pizza is the best pizza in Berkeley. Everything you can buy here is delicious. You can't go wrong with any of the food choices. --- For first time visitors or a casual stop, I recommend buying a cheese roll, seeded baguette, and any pastry that tickles your fancy. For a more substantial amount of food to bring home, I recommend a pizza, a 6-pack of English muffins, the green sauce, and a cheese Adventure Bag. The green sauce usually goes well on the pizza.

Visited on a Saturday around noon and waited in line for about about 10/15mins I really appreciate how it’s no longer self serve because of covid. You order and pay at the cashier and all the items are packed to go. As you are waiting in line there are photos of the items on the window. They will cross out one’s that get sold out. When we got the pizza it looked so good we ordered a second one on the spot. Luckily one of their staff was able to ring our order without us having to wait in line again. That was very nice of them :) Their pizza is half baked so it’s not ready to eat. Which is fine since we prefer to eat at the comfort of home. Their website suggests to preheat oven at 400F and then heat for 5-8mins depending on your oven. We heated on a cast iron plate for 6mins and it came out delicious. Not sure how they are able to keep the crust so thin and well structured. Must visit and order if you ever in the neighborhood.

Cheeseboard rocks! Whether it is their delicious sourdough pizza or their bakery nextdoor. The bakery is quite spacious with a huge list of cheeses - no kidding! They have all kinds of them from cow milk, sheep milk etc, a proper feta section and they also have kashkaval - no ways!!! Local and imported cheeses. If you're a cheese lover, then you must come here at least once. Few other items from their bakery such as fresh bread, scones, cookies etc and packed salads and also ready made pizza dough WHOA! Prices are tad higher than Arizmendi in Oakland though. Coffee/tea/hot chocolate stand also present inside the bakery :) Definitely do check out the bakery as well as their pizzas! Great stuff.

This place is a classic must-go for anyone who appreciates good food, especially good cheese. Unbelievable cheese counter. So much selection and knowledgeable employees who can help you find what you want or lead you to explore something new. They make sure to cycle their selection of cheeses to constantly introduce new farms, new products to us customers. They have many varieties of cow, goat, and sheep cheeses and have a fantastic taste-test policy to help you find the right one for whatever your cheese needs may be.

The baked goods section is also cyclic in what is available on a given day and always presents truly delicious and unique breads. Most of the breads have a sourdough base, and as someone who is not a huge fan of sourdough, I will vouch for Cheeseboard's sourdough flavor any day. They have flavored rolls - savory or sweet - as well as baguettes. They also usually have a dessert-type bread (think zucchini or banana bread type) and also have an excellent bread pudding that is available on occasion.

The salad and fridge cheese section is good to skim by. I've never once been underwhelmed or disappointed by the salads here. Always fresh with interesting and solidly delicious dressings. The cheeses available here are quick glance-and-grabs staples like Gouda, cheddar, feta, mozzarella, etc. You can also buy Cheeseboard pizza here.

For those of you who plan to buy cheese, know that you can check out at the cheese counter 100%, including bread, salad, etc. purchases. Just let your cheese guide know what you're buying for the day and you don't need to hop in line for your non-cheese goodies.

I hope everyone who comes here has as much fun and as many delicious experiences as I have had here! Truly a...
