My wife and I wanted a quick bite, and decided to try this little French food restaurant. We're both a bit underexposed to that cuisine, but that was more reason to try it.
Yes, the reviews on here are all positive, but I don't necessarily think it's worth the above average rating for the following reasons:
The workforce was very pleasant. The meals (smoked salmon with Umboshi cream on salad and fried buttermilk chicken filet with spicy Cole slaw on French roll), I was pleased with their box presentation and happy that it was decently sized (no, it was not "oversized", but it also wasn't a meal that could be finished in a few bites.) The chicken was cooked well (no pink) and the quality of it was good (no chewy or mushy parts), and the frying was nicely uniform, brown, and stayed attached to the chicken. It also had a nice spice to it. The Salmon, I don't have much to add about. I can't remember much about the sauce it came with.
I'd recommend this place if you have time to kill outside of your daily routine. Would not recommend it for a date, as the above reasons might make it less than desirable (it's also located right on the side of the street), but if you are able to order ahead and take the food on a picnic, you can make...
Read moreFive stars for those potato puffs!! I was getting ready to move and had never gotten around to giving them a try, despite having heard about how good they were in the past. I decided to stop by the week before I'd be leaving so that I could finally try them - I definitely wasn't disappointed!! I wish I had gotten them sooner now!
They had a mobile app with discounts and rewards available on it that made it very quick and easy to place an order for the potato puffs - they were ready within a few minutes of placing it and was able to walk right in and pick them up.
It's a very tiny establishment, clearly designed primarily for take-out, as there were just a few outdoor patio tables. The service was very quick and efficient, however, so no issues there!
As for the potato puffs themselves, they were beautifully presented in a little hexagonal (I think) shaped box that was very aesthetic for photo-taking! The potato puffs inside were steamy hot and came with some dipping sauce (I'm not quite sure what exactly type of sauce) that tasted great with them. The puffs have a perfectly crispy and crunchy exterior as you bite into them, and then a gooey, mushy interior that just melts into your mouth and tastes like the riches, creamiest bite of mashed potatoes ever! The slight tang from the sauce that you can dip them into was a great accompaniment to the textures and flavors of the puffs!
I haven't tried other food items from Gregoire's, but if they're anything like the potato puffs, they're probably delicious as well!
Definitely an incredibly delectable and delightful appetizer snack. I'd get them again in a heartbeat, and I...
