I looked into this place because I wanted to take some professional cooking classes because I work in commercial kitchens however looking at the pictures it shows people with no gloves handling food with no hair nets and it just looks like they're not practicing the best industry standards and I don't know if that was just a photo shoot or if they really are teaching people what they're not supposed to do because I work in kitchens I have food handling certifications and this is nonsense you can't work in a kitchen or with food handling people's food with your bare hands with no hair nets that's unhygienic I don't know if they're truly teaching people that because when you go try and get a real job you're going to get fired if you dress and act and prepare food like they're showing the people in the pictures that's how people get sick that's how restaurants get closed down nobody wants hair in their food nobody wants to see you physically handling their food with...
Read moreMy partner and I attended a Roman cooking class with (I think) Chef Mat in July 2023 at the Berkeley location, so this is a late review, but I think important for others thinking of attending Kitchen On Fire courses. We felt socially excluded the whole time, even though the chefs did incorporate us in the cooking. This was especially hard for me, because the class was outside our price range and my partner got it for my birthday. I had to run to the bathroom at one point to fight off tears. The food was good, but honestly I would have learned just as much about how to cook from a J. Kenji...

Chef Michael and Chef Lev broke down the basics of how to make bread from scratch, that even a beginner cook like myself walked away feeling that I could repeat what I learned in class at home on my own. The entire class had a great time working together, enjoying the chefs humor while teaching us how to mix, blend, bake and getting the inside scoop to working with dough. At the end of class we all got to taste out creations. Delicious!! Thanks for a great class Chef...
