Gallegos — Restaurant in Berkeley

This is a friendly and comfortable spot. It is one of my favorite places to watch sports, especially soccer. My friends from Southern California seem to think this is the most authentic taquria in west Berkeley. The plates and alacarte items are like home cooked meals. I feel like I am with family when I am here. The salsa is just right and the chips are worthy. The crowd is friendly and makes me feel welcome. I am always pleased when I eat here. The prices are fair for the portions and quality. The clean and comfortable environment makes it easy to like this place. It dose a good business at lunch and offers good horchata. This feels very retro and has its own charm of a restaurant. Gallegos is off the busy San Pablo ave, and they even have their own parking lot which is nice.

The prices on the menu are really fair for the area, so you can’t resist great Mexican food at a decent price.

I usually go with burritos, but this time I wanted to try their tacos. I got 2 al pastor, carne asada and fish taco.

I admit that I thought the fish was Baja fish style, but it was still good. The rest of the tacos were good as well.

Gallegos is nice. Food is about $8 to $15ish with the "specialty plates" costing the most. The fresh water is well, fresh and the watermelon is made with real watermelon, Not powder drink mixes.

Came before the lunch rush barely any wait and food came right away. But at about 12:15 while I was finishing up a line formed to order.
