Let me preface this by saying the food is Absolutely Delicious, the pork was tender and sweet and flavorful while crispy on the edges. The rice and the cucumber salad pair very well with it. I'm leaving 4 stars because the menus that I found online suggest severe price inflation (the pork was 12$ during soft opening, 16ish less than a year ago, and now it is 21 + tax and tip = 25 to 30$. We had no idea of the price increase before walking in so we were surprised at the large price difference. My partner and I ended up ordering only one bowl to share. The portion sizes are perfect for one person but definitely not for two (this makes sense). I think that the food is worth the money!! It's delicious and takes a massive amount of time and effort to make. Probably some of the best pork I've ever had. But my experience could have been made better if there was better price transparency online.

Absolutely terrific flavors and execution. The owner/chef really understands how to marry Chinese flavors and American techniques to create dishes that aren’t just fusion for the sake of fusion, but actually enhance every component. We tried everything on the menu and nothing disappointed. I only managed to get a photo of the chicken, because all the food just disappeared. The crowd pleaser has got to be the smoky, tender char siu, but a surprising highlight was the fermented black bean (dau si) gravy served over the rice alongside. So savory and nostalgic, yet prepared in a way I’d never thought of, just like much of the rest of the menu. We can’t wait to bring friends back with us for them to try.

If you want to get smacked in the face with delicious flavor and the perfect amount of spice, this is the place. I told my partner that this is one of the best meals I have ever had. Crunchy, tender, perfectly smoked meat and the eggplant salad sauce was to die for. The owner treated us with as much care and attention as I treat guests in my own home and was so happy when we told them we liked the food. You can tell it means a lot to them. I will be coming back and bringing friends to support this great restaurant and the lovely young couple who own it.

Warning all parents of babies/toddlers that they don't have high chairs or booster seats here and the second level isn't wheelchair accessible. I couldn't get to the bathroom to check if it had a changing station but I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone with kids anyway. Had a rough time solo parenting with my toddler trying to throw himself down the stairs and not able to contain him since I had to park the stroller downstairs. Also, they only have one or two dishes available and don't have a kids menu or anything. Just not a child friendly place but this is a family friendly neighborhood. It's a bummer because I've tried to eat at this place multiple times before and they're been closed,...

Saddest thing was eating here and watching people walk by reading the menu and deciding not to enter. They have NO IDEA what they slept on.

I didn't know what to expect, but this might be some of the best chicken in the East Bay. Crispy skin, bone-in, and most importantly--served with this unique Chinese-South Asian chckpea curry (w/ a side of yogurt). As a Vietnamese girl married to an Indian husband, this is like the best of both worlds for us.

Don't let the somewhat sparse accoutrements deter you. If anything, that should be a sign that Asian food is about to slap. They know their food is all they need. Owned by two cousins who are super friendly and offer homey service! 10/10. Bringing all...
