I recently discovered this hidden gem in Berkeley, and wow, what a treat! If you're a fan of rich, creamy custard and inventive desserts, you have to check this place out. The custard itself is divine—smooth, velvety, and not too sweet. But what really sets it apart are the homemade toppings! Each one elevates the custard to another level. From fresh fruit compotes to decadent chocolate sauces, it’s hard to pick just one topping. Lexi is incredibly talented and clearly passionate about her craft. I had the affogato (CUSTARD topped with hot ESPRESSO), and it was absolutely perfect—rich, comforting, and just the right balance of flavors. I also tried one of their iICE CREAM SANDWICHES, which was a total game-changer. The cookies were soft and chewy, and the custard in the middle was a delicious surprise! And if you’re a fan of PIES, you’re in for a treat. They make their own, and the crust is perfection—flaky and buttery, with a filling that’s always fresh and flavorful. This place is a must-visit for anyone in Berkeley craving a sweet, indulgent dessert. The flavors are top-notch, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the chef-owner’s passion really shines through in every bite. Can’t wait...
Read moreI love Lexie's Frozen Custard!! All of the ingredients are top notch creating super delicious custard and toppings. Also, all the containers, spoons, napkins are compostable so extra eco points. She always has an exciting sorbet for vegans and fruit fiends. Since she's opened I find excuses to go and have custard or sorbet. So far I have a few favorites: banana pudding, lemon blueberry cheesecake, cherry Pinot Noir sorbet, plum sorbet, and honestly the best darn vanilla if you want something simple. She has affogatos! The sundaes are fun and creative and the sauces all made from scratch. While I was scarfing down banana pudding custard with chocolate sauce I saw a dad order the key lime pie sundae topped with fresh lime curd. It looked amazing. Oh and mocha almond crunch with strawberry sauce sounds weird and not on her list but my own weird thing and it was delish. Anyway, go try it and bring home a pint if you're addicted like me.
Also, it's right downtown Berkeley on Addison Street across from all the theaters on the outside of the parking garage. Which has bike parking and clean bathrooms. I ride down as much as possible to earn...
Read moreI was a longtime fan of Lexie's delicious frozen custards, pies, yogurts, sorbets, etc. when she had her truck at events like the Alameda Antiques Fair. Always ready with a big smile and a cheerful greeting, now she's opened a brick and mortar place right next door to the Freight & Salvage, across from Berkeley Rep in downtown Berkeley, and open 6 days a week. For me it will be the PERFECT refreshing, rewarding stop-off after a long bike ride or attending an event on the Cal campus. I definitely recommend not only the great variety of custard flavors, but for sure don't miss her frozen pies--a uniquely...
