UPDATE: 8/2/2021 Reluctantly went here again trying to give them another shot since I was in the area and unable to get something else. Could not order over the phone, even though nobody was in the store. I should have fasted instead of going here. If you were a tuna melt fan, the whitefish sandwich does not compare at all so do not accept the replacement. No more sides with the $14 sandwiches, when originally the sides were a teeny tiny scoop of mac or potato salad anyways. Now you get a pickle spear that costs like 15 cents or less. Seems strange that they are cutting such small corners to save money, sad really. They also removed some other signature items from the menu. It is really sad how being a vegan used to be so much cheaper and now basically people are taking advantage and charging for mostly soy based products, which are very cheap. Sure some cheze is made in house but $14? For fried squash lettuce tomatoes and home made cheze with no side? It just unrealistic and taking advantage of people. On the other hand their something healthy salad is really really good, not a fair price at $14, but still good. I cook, and the ingredients and prices do not match, even for profitability. If you were serving oyster mushrooms that were well seasoned I would be fine to pay so much but this is the commercialization of veganism.
Used to love this place and come like twice a month. Now I won’t go here if it’s the only place open. Since the pandemic they have ridiculous rules and lack of access to menu options. Most places have made ordering online easier since the pandemic but with them ordering online is mess, they will not answer the phone, smaller portions, no more sides with the overpriced sandwiches. On top of that, the last three times I went there they messed up my order and the staff were consistently rude. Seems like the staff are stressed and there is a huge lack of support from management. Their service is also slow. It’s really sad because I used to recommend this place to so many people. I been wanting to write this review for 6 months but waited to give them a chance to bounce back. Today tried to order online again and so much confusion so I’ve decided that’s it I’m not giving them my money anymore. Food is great, when they get it right after waiting for an hour...
Read more6/19/2025 For the 2nd time I got the gyro sandwich without lettuce on gyro flatbread and got more onions than usual plus i was given extra tziki sauce I told my mom that Weird Al goes to Butcher's daughter in LA. I surmised Weird AL was a vegan by the 1989 album and movie soundtrack in UHF where Weird Al says that eggs are liquid chickens implying that Weird Al is vegan.
I saw there were three quiches cooked and on the counter. This time I noticed the carafe that says TIMELESS COFFEE on it and it reminded to get the vegan cross aints on Piedmont Ave in Oakland at the Timeless Coffee just around the corner from where I live.
I finally got to eat here and got the pickles and fried chicken sandwich. The cafeteria burger pickles were too chewy and salty for me, next time I would eat them on the side. I should have let the sandwich cool down because I couldn't really taste the flavors and all that sauce. I want to eat it again soon! The chicken Parm sandwich is big enough for 2. There is plenty of setting in back of the restaurant in the courtyard shared with a neighboring restaurant. hello Reginice I'll like your review if you like my review. I can't add more photos from today of my gyro sandwhich with be'ef instead of chick'n. Actually I noticed that you got 2 stars out of 5 and i feel this rating is rude and unappreciative even elitist given that this is in Berkeley near a famous public uni.
Not all restaurants have really good everything on the menu is not equally good. The cheezesticks you will just have to wait until the inventor of vegan cheeze that melts the way we want it to for pizza comes out of west Africa Senegal I believe. Your mom was super silly to not order something else. Of course the chick'n pieces for your moms salad wasn't going to be that good. Obviously you should have ordered something else or asked more questions instead of being like that.
Okay its Juneteenth and I have to write a letter to my friend Stewie and the food camper trailer to go vegan veganize so they can sell more orders. We are in solidarity as vegan restaurants for the most part. Eating rabbit food isn't my thing so I'm thankful for mocks meats. And I don't have a car to shuttle myself around to get here easy peasy...
Read moreI used to love this place and go almost every other weekend or so, but not so much lately. I always ordered the BLT and got great sandwiches automatically perfectly toasted with a good side. The prices have gotten higher and the food way poorer. It used to be that you could order a BLT, even if forced to order it from a kids' menu. The sandwiches were huge most of the time because it seemed like they used large loaves and you only suffered if you happened to get one of the pieces near the ends. The sandwiches were so full that they were almost hard to fit in your mouth, and usually you ended up taking food home. Now, it's all tiny bread pieces, meaning the sandwich is tiny. This past weekend I was only allowed to order the overpriced Killer BLT, which means you have to get a chunk of fake chicken in your BLT. Not sure why they can't accept that some people just like BLTs and just offer the Classic BLT. They're not flexible and won't allow you to just order the plain BLT. You can take it out, but they don't offer to replace the fake chicken with something else. You also used to get a side of fake bacon macaroni salad, but you no longer get that either. So, basically I paid the better part of $20 and left disappointed and hungry. My partner got some sort of fake pastrami sandwich that was incredibly oily. Not a good experience and I can't see driving there from Richmond anymore for small portions of food that aren't anywhere near as good...
