Arrived around 6pm for dinner service, having heard great things. Firstly, the menu was so large and reflected within the quality of mine and my partners meal. My steak burrito was fairly not the best and I mostly ate the table chips that was served at our arrival. I had to cut my wrap due to my sauces being on the bottom and top making the tortilla itself considerably soggy. My lettuce was under the wrap and on the hot plate which ultimately only made it warm and wet, rather than be a crunchy and earthy addition to my meal. The steak was rubbery and the entire wrap was tasteless. Other than food, our customer service was fantastic. Our flight of margaritas were stellar and very well balanced. The blueberry mint margarita being a memorable drink. Needless to say I think I’ll enjoy this place an an appetizer and drinks spot over a dinner place, if I even return.

We ended up here around 6:30pm during The Great 4/8/24 Eclipse Traffic Jam™ that plagued Errol to Gorham and everywhere in between. The restaurant staff was BUSTING THEIR BUTTS to make sure everyone was seated and turning over tables. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this restaurant and staff for their flexibility to adapt. The free chips and salsa were a GODSEND to our traffic delirious mind and the chipotle burrito and "burrito dal Casita" were a remedy from Xilonen herself. I probably won't return to this restaurant as I was on a solar eclipse vacation but I'll never forget their controlled chaos and stuck to their principal of "mi casita es tu casita."

Edit: May Marisol RIP. I hope the community continues to provide love and support for this wonderful haven in Berlin. And may we not forget the women that are lost to domestic violence, or that suffer in silence while they serve us our meals. La Casita is our favorite restaurant! Having come from TX, CA and NM, my standards are pretty high for Mexican food, and it took me a few visits to get accommodated to this style, but I’ve come to love it. The food is always excellent and I’ve had amazing service as well, so don’t let one bad trip deter you from enjoying the best Mexican food available in our area if you happen to experience a one-off.

I was reluctant to try Berlin's La Casita. La Casita is owned by the same gentleman who owns Jalisco in Conway. Jalisco started out as a good restaurant, but went downhill after being open for a while.

My rationale in trying out La Casita was simply, "There has to be a different cook at this restaurant, and hopefully a different restaurant manager". So, I hoped for a better experience. I ordered the Huevos Rancheros lunch special. This is a dish that I have ordered many, many times over many years at a great many Mexican and Tex/Mex restaurants. I spent years working in places like Texas, New Mexico, Southern California, etc.

The La Casita menu described the dish as having 3 "Ranch Style" eggs and the clarification in the menu was "Over Easy" when describing how the eggs would be prepared. Over easy is exactly how it was prepared every time that I have ordered it, at every other restaurant, with the exception of Jalisco.

Over easy means the eggs were flipped over, and removed from the grill while the yolk was still runny. One does not need to attend years of training at Le Cordon Bleu to attain the proficiency of producing eggs that are "Over Easy". There are greasy spoon breakfast joints all over this country that prepare "Over Easy" eggs to perfection every day of the week. At La Casita, and at Jalisco,, the eggs were cooked until one side was total brown, with the yolks totally hard, and had the consistency of rubber. To say that the eggs were overcooked would be an understatement.

For today's order, the dish was sent back to the kitchen twice. I could have patched a tire with what was served to me both times, and it was also the case the last time that I ordered the dish at Jalisco. The second time that I sent the dish back to the La Casita kitchen, I requested that instead of tempting fate for a third time, I would order shrimp tacos.

The tacos came to the table on three tortillas, with a side of pico de gallo, and a spiced sauce. The tacos were OK. Note that I did not say "Great". Great would mean that the shrimp had been seasoned properly with some Mexican spices, and bland, uninteresting shrimp was what was delivered to the table.

I should caution anyone trying La Casita about one more concern of mine. At Jalisco, I ordered a dish that, according to the menu, contained crab. It did not! What was served to me was not a creature that lived under the sea in a shell. In fact, what was served to me was...

This is a great restaurant. The last 3 times I was there, small mistakes were made with my order. I won't deduct any stars in spite of that because I feel too many people are so fast to give poor reviews over insignificant things and are blind to the big picture. My hope is that the owner follows his reviews and addresses the issues I feel have become a trend. I think the pace they work at to fulfill orders is commendable, but it comes at a cost, and that price is in getting things wrong. Lunch special ordered, charged for dinner portion. Missing food items. Wrong item brought to table (language barrier, perhaps?).

The reasons for 5 stars all around are simple: The quality of the food is very good. San Diego-level Mexican? Hardly. But let's be real. Sourcing affordable, fresh and authentic ingredients in the North Country is all but impossible. They do a hell of a job considering. The portions are other worldly. Especially for how much they charge. The value is totally unbeatable. Their lunch specials are insane! For right around $10, you get 2-3 times as much food as you do anywhere else, no joke. And instead of some processed fast food garbage, this is freshly prepared, real food. Speed and staff. They have so many people running around to help customers, I have never once had to wait longer than I wanted for my meal. Overall, I would give La Casita 6 stars if I could. And the only thing I hope will change over time is more...
