Today was the second delivery from this place and will be the last delivery! The first delivery was extremely bad so they gave me an in-store credit of $20 to only be used on food. Well I give them a second chance today and order a cheap special that they advertise via text messaging on your phone.
The special was an 18" cheese ONLY pizza and a 2-liter RC cola. Each additional topping will cost you $3 or more!!
So the first issue is talking to the lady that takes the order over the phone which starts out with her being somewhat abrasive. You can tell it's time for a new job for her!
I don't know what kind of system they have to put in orders or if this was just a scam but when I asked for extra sauce on the pizza she said it would be $3 or more and she had to charge me because that's the only way she could enter it into the system as an extra topping. I wanted a little extra sauce because I was getting extra cheese at the $3 additional. And like a lot of pizza places nowadays when you pay for extra cheese as a topping it turns out you really don't get extra cheese because of some moron in the back (Giordano's gives true extra). I also requested the bottom of the pizza not be overcooked like last time. She tells me there was no where within the system she could enter that request. Could you imagine asking for a special cut like in squares or pie-cut?
So the telephone lady says she will need to charge $3 extra to the $15.99 special price for the extra cheese but would go to the back and "talk to the guy that's been here for like 30 years" to see if he would add some extra sauce without her charging it or entering it as an extra in to the system. She said she would ask to not overcook the bottom too.
So the delivery guy gets to my house in good time (maybe 25-30 minutes) but acts like he is on crack or speed. I ask to see the pizza first before accepting it (something everyone should do) to make sure all the cheese hasn't slid to one corner of the box or got somebody else's anchovy junk... Well, now he is practically having withdrawals because of my request that he simply open the top of the box!!!...lol
Pizza appears to be ok so he hands me a receipt that shows $32.75 total!!! HUH? On a supposed $15.99 special? And wouldn't $32.75 be ridiculous anyway for just an 18" cheese plus 2-liter RC?
When I ask why, ...he looks at me and says "I'm just the delivery guy" but he is an actual employee. He then tells me I owe $3 delivery fee. Now remember...this is all supposed to be a free-ride this time because of their disastrous first attempt with me. So he gets Miss Abrasive on speakerphone regarding these charges and she says I need to pay the $3 delivery or the pizza comes back to them even though this is all supposed to be a re-do from their first disaster...LOL.
I hand the guy his tip money I was giving him no matter what whether this was a re-do or not but told him the delivery fee is gonna have come out of that since I was now done with Anthony's Pizza for good (2 for 2 disasters and out...lol).
What reputable pizza parlor charges for an extra ladle of pizza sauce? You think Giordano's or Uno's or Gino's is charging for an extra ladle of sauce that probably cost them 10 cents? These jokers do...
And they are guilty of the fraudulent "extra cheese" charge yet where's the cheese?
AND...no way in hell is their pizza good enough to put up with their lackluster service and no desire for repeat customers.
BTW, the cheese is supposed to go all the way out to edge crust ALL THE WAY around the circumference. And if you really put extra cheese on mine then why all the gaps? Especially quarter and half-dollar size bald gaps near the end crust?.light sauce in those spots..lol.
Everyone! Save your money. There are better pizzas even with a few toppings for the same price in the frozen or deli areas of most grocery stores.
Hell, I could get 2 or 3 Home Run Inn cheese-only frozen that will be just as good or better.
No way this is the "🎶 Anthony" that Italian mama used to call to come in on Spaghetti...
Read moreWell I placed an order for delivery of a jumbo pizza on 2/6/18 and well let's say I'm very dissatisfied with the customer service of this establishment . The pizza was to be delivered within 45 minutes and well double the time an hour and a half later had passed . The pizza had finally arrived but was cold . I called the establishment and asked to speak with a manager , Ganessa (not sure if I spelled that right) offered to resend the pizza but was unsure of the delivery time because the orders were back up so we AGREED that I would use the credit on another date and I would reheat the pizza myself because well so to speak my family and I were extremely hungry .... So now let's skip to February 10th apx. around 5:30pm when I call to redeem what I was told on Feb 6th when I spoke to The boss (sorry guys he did not give me a name as usual with proper buisness etiquette) said it was unfair that they replace the pizza because we ate the other one ... It did not matter that another manager approved of this he wasn't going to honer the agreement between a consumer and manager made at an earlier date ... It did not matter that we had to reheat the pizza to eat it .... It did not matter that I had the name of the manager , the times , and explained that the 2nd delivery of the same pizza could have possibly taken as long and we were all hungry .... I explained my frustration in a calmy manner and I was told I could have the pizza for half off , I did not accept because it's not right to be told the error would be corrected and then later have such a problem and dispute with another member of management ... It's such a shame that Anthony's has such poor customer service and communication between the management . I would not recommend and will make sure to tell my friends and family in the Cicero / Berwyn area about this experience ... Be prepared to wait double the time for your pizza .... Cold pizza .... And not have the management team correct the problem unless you dont mind waiting double the time , or the manager in the future refusing to honer his co-workers agreement with the customer . Thumbs down Anthony's I'll take my business to DI NICOS PIZZA I'll be waiting for the comment from the supposable owner saying he hopes well give them a chance to get it right in the future but take no action as seen in the previous bad reviews .... Just wow wow wow .. Get it together Anthony's.. ..And you dont honor such an agreement over the phone? It was a delivery, the whole transaction is made via telephone ! Then why did your manager agree , seems pretty unexcusable to me , and no not in any shape or form did your staff nor yourself attempt to make a situation right but instead you would rather take a public blow to your reputation rather than do what was right and honer an agreement made by YOUR STAFF . So please do not try to save your pizza joints reputation with a response of lies and deception and you are definitely aware that I won't ever return because of this horrific experience , so please just stop acting like any of these reviews matter because if they did you yourself would have made it right , instead of defending your buisness with lies and...
Read moreUpdate: Still a go-to for me, even though I don't live just around the corner anymore! I just wish they were open later. Their pizza reminds me of the original Berwyn Salerno's when it was on 16th St, which means IT'S REALLY GOOD PIZZA. IDGAF about the prices; everything is more expensive now, and they're still huge slices. If I want cheap food, I can make that myself. I cannot make pizza like this, though. Original review: It's between this place and Di Nico's for pizza by the slice for me, but Di Nico's has the edge only because they're open all night (it seems) whereas Anthony's is closed by the time I get home from work (damn!). The staff at both places can be, well, not rude, but I would say brusque: they're busy, they're in a hurry, & they haven't got time for whiny millennial complaints. I noticed last time I was here at Anthony's that they had new computers behind the counter. I got the impression they're just trying to keep up with all the orders. Once upon a time I was a waitress many moons ago and man, that dinner rush and the post-bars-closing rush were really rough. So I probably have a lot more sympathy than people who've never done that work themselves. I imagine when you have people ordering in person, on the phone, & online, you could quickly be overwhelmed with orders and fall behind. And still, people, you've got eyes. When you see the woman sweating & her hair falling in her face & yelling back to the kitchen to ask when something will be done, come on! Put 2 & 2 together! Oh wait I forgot this is the completely oblivious unobservant generation of "no one exists but me & what I want" we're taking about... Anyway. Despite her obvious stress the counter cashier & slice a server remained friendly though stressed. The pizza available for slices was not fresh but the next one wouldn't be out for 20 minutes, but I couldn't wait, so I took the not-fresh; I can always zap it in the microwave. It still tastes amazing. Give these guys a break, people. You can order instantly, but they can't conjure hot delicious pizza instantly. It takes TIME. & until technology comes up with some way to preserve the oven baked pizza taste, but accelerate it 5 times faster for our online-everything age, you still have to wait for good food & good service. & if they get orders by phone, & by internet, & in person, but they don't hire more staff... There will be...
