The bar has been raised by this new Berwin Mexican restaurant, Gudino's. Don't be fooled - this location in a small strip mall is under new management (signage changing asap), family-owned with delicious family recipes. The venue may look like a "hole in the wall" (which I find are the best places to find unique or authentic food) and I'm here to tell you that my meal was amazing. Yes, they have take-out favorites like burritos, tacos, and tortas. I was seated and had enchiladas from the plated meals, but with a modification I requested thay the chef prepared to perfection! They don't have a thousand variations as you often see on 10 page menus of other Mexican restaurants, but rather focus on perhaps a dozen or so family-recipe specialities that level-up Gudino's to a selection considerably above the neighborhood taco joint. I can't wait to get back to try some of these dishes, or one of the daily special specialities they mentioned on the chalk board. I WILL BE BACK SOON: I think I found my new favorite Mexican place in Chicagoland. Oh, and there is free parking! Please try these folks out- they are still ramping up and need to get some buzz . I don't usually gush like this, but I think y'all will be impressed. So many good places closed over Covid, but here is something new and quality we can encourage by ordering a good meal and sharing...

I went here on a Friday night from a Google search. I placed my order online via grubhub and received a text notification when it was ready. It took maybe 15 minutes. The restaurant is located in a strip mall on Roosevelt. Parking in the lot can be a little difficult to find on a busy Friday night. There's also street parking.

The restaurant was empty when I went in. I think it'd be a good place to dine in. There was plenty of seating. The guy at the register greeted me and handed me my order. He let me know he added green and red sauce to my bag along with ketchup for my fries. He was very nice.

I opened the fry container in the car. The fries were piping hot and delicious. You also get a good amount. I'd go back here regularly just for those fries. The steak tacos were just ok. The steak was very tender and cooked perfectly. However, the seasoning was slightly lacking. The pork taco was the star! It was seasoned perfectly, and the flavor was spot on. The rice and beans had the same issue as the steak taco. I thought they both could use more seasoning. The cheese in the refried beans definitely helped with the flavor.

Pricing was pretty fair and average. I would go back here regularly for the pork tacos and fries. The customer service is also great. I am hoping to try other things on their menu...

Hidden gem off of Roosevelt in a fair location at Berwyn Square. Parking may or may not be difficult as there are other businesses sharing the parking lot. Dine in tables available, not a really large space but enough to have some elbow room. Taco dinner was ordered for dine in with courtesy chips and salsa. Less than 15 minutes and order was fulfilled. Very pleasant service from the cashier/Server. Food was more on the flavorful side. Steak was not tough or overcooked and had a nice tender feel. Barbacoa was also good. Surprisingly, the refried beans were not bland at all. Overall, it was a good bite to eat in a nice, low key...
