This place is not without its flaws, but I found it to be well worth it.
With so many flavors on the menu (an overwhelming number really), it would be great if they gave more options for trying multiple flavors beyond having to order 6- or 13-counts at a higher price (they only allow flavor splitting on 50-counts). Also, not accepting credit cards is really annoying, particularly when the wings are as pricey as they are (I ordered 62 wings total and added bleu cheese/ranch/celery, and it was around $78).
$1 per wing at face value seems nuts (especially when ordering that many), but in fairness, they're big wings. While they are in fact wing-dings and not the full size behemoths you have to break apart, the drumstick wings in particular have probably twice the meat of most establishments.
Also, the flavors are really good. The mild garlic parm were outstanding. Teriyaki and honey BBQ were also solid. The mild (buffalo) had a nice flavor, although not much sauce (excellent when dipped in their bleu cheese, however). Flavors aside, the wings themselves are well-prepared (crispy but not overcooked).
If you're getting wings as a side for another meal, you might be better off going someplace cheaper that has good wings but doesn't specialize in them. If you want wings to be the main meal and don't mind spending a bit more for them, give BSBs a shot (they do have a full sandwich menu that looked good, but we didn't try anything).
One final note as an FYI - I ordered 62 wings at 6:00 PM on a Sunday and was told it would be around 45 minutes for pickup. I showed up around 40 minutes later and everything was already packed up and ready to go (yet still plenty hot) and they apologized for it taking a while because they were busy. Some new places will tell you 30 minutes and take 45, so I was very...
Read moreI ordered from Big Shot Bob's, and while I wasn't initially convinced by Bob's self congratulatory self-title, they had an impressively large wing sauce selection that's hard to come by and a full menu of subs salads and other goodies. So I figured I'd give Bob a Big Shot of my own.
And so I ordered the "mild ranch" wings, which while definitely on the expensive side, were well worth the payment and the wait.
I took one bite of the first wing and I got absolutely blasted back to the first memory of my childhood of tasting something delicious for the first time. I felt like they called him Big Shot Bob because he hops out of his takeout box and point blank executes you with his sawed off shotgun of flavor.
I think my depression was cured after the first 3 wings I consumed. There was so much sauce on each wing I could have lubricated a 2022 Ford Mustang engine and confidently driven it knowing all the parts inside would move smoothly and freely. And I don't know what sort of voodoo magic Bob is brewing up in that shack over the hill but somehow the wings stayed perfectly crispy lest being completely drowned in Bobs Special sauce and trapped in a takeout container for 30 minutes.
If I didn't know any better I would think Bob instructed the delivery driver to keep the wings in a portable fryer in his car and just take the wings out as soon as he brought them to me.
These wings have made my day absolutely rip. 12/10 would...
Read morethere are not many places around when you need to order something while visiting family so we have given this a few tries and were disappointed each time. Vegetarian hoagie was basically like a hot wet salad on a soggy bun. It was if the iceberg lettuce was cooked with their chopped salad vegetables (2 slices of canned mushroom a tablespoon of chopped green pepper and chopped onion and probably a quarter cup, which is far too many, pickled banana peppers) in a microwave and doused in cheap and gooey bottled Italian salad dressing. (And I asked for no mayo, nothing was mentioned about this awful dressing) The chicken sandwich my husband received was completely plain after asking for the Cajun sauce and dry rub ( the person I ordered from said they would both be on the sandwich together. Also this has happened more than one time) I'd like to suggest that a better mix of salad greens the available for people who choose salad or any type of lettuce on a sandwich. Higher quality products and cooking them on a grill and not a microwave would be much preferred giving the food flavor and interest. The prices would indicate better quality than what is provided. I can't give this place anymore chances with the sub...
