Casa Del Mofongo — Restaurant in Bethlehem

This is my second time here and my experience was terrible. I would usually recommend this place for mofongo, but after my experience today I will not. I went here today with three friends. I had talked so much about my first experience here that they were dying to try it. We were all highly disappointed .

I arrived and it took them over 10 minutes to greet us or walk us to a table. Then it took almost a half hour to get someone to come to our table and ask us what we wanted to drink or eat. After an hour, our food arrived. Two of us received the wrong order. The food was hard, cold, and had no taste. At that point we were starving and took a few bites.

I decided to call the manager/ owner over to let them know my experience before I decided to go and write a review. She apologized and said next time we should arrive before 6pm. They close at 9pm and I called at 7:30pm and they said yes they can sit us and that there was no wait. She didn’t like the idea I was going to write a review about my experience and offered me to comp the meal. I told her I can pay for the food. I don’t need a free meal, I just wanted to give her constructive feedback.

After, she sent a waitress to talk to me. She asked me to come back the next day or sometime during the week and she would give me a free meal so that I don’t post this review. I felt some uncomfortable and offended. I was not trying to get a free meal. I just wanted good food and a good experience.

I previously went to this restaurant a week ago, alone around lunch. I asked for water with my meal and got it in a nice Lil glass w/ice. Today on February 1st I took my 3 children thier to eat and when we were asked about drinks, I instantly said water for all. After sitting for about 5min the waitress came to me with 4 bottles of water that I didn't ask for, I was specif about just having water w/lemons being I'm out w/ 3 of my children and I didn't want to over spend my budget for us to eat outside dinner. The waitress told me w/an attitude they only have bottle water an (she don't know anything about anything else) I told her I was there last week and asked for water an it was giving. So here I am w/my family looking to have dinner and the manager comes to repeat to us that it's only bottle water. I repeated to her that I was thier last week and asked for water and it was giving... I didn't understand why but I do understand why! It's all about them pulling every dollar they can out your pocket to eat thier food which is ridiculous, especially when you have 3 children with you. ALSO NO KIDS MENU! NOT KID FRIENDLY AND WE WONT BE SPENDING OUR MONEY THIER ANY MORE AFTER BEING TREATED WRONG OVER...

I went to eat late last night with my bff who came all the way from Newark airport starving so we decide to come here, walked in and got seated , everything was cool till the waitress that was the last one serving the night of the Dec 20th and she was rushing for us to order asked me personally 3 times in less then 7 minutes.. Anywho the food and drink came out good , everything was spot on! Loved it !!! Then she asked if I can close out the tab I said sure !! Meanwhile I’m transferring money in my bank account to pay for my tab and definitely leave a cash tip!! The waitress saw me use my Apple Pay and put no tip bc I wanted to give cash as a payment! She said no tip ? I said hold up she said out loud “DONT WORRY I KNO YOU DONT HAVE ENOUGH ONLY FOR THE FOOD!!” that was really disrespectful to me and my friend we felt embarrassed!!! She didn’t even get me a chance to give her cash and she was already talking out her face being a smart ass… so I walked out!!! WONT EVER RECOMMEND OR TAKE MY BUSINESS...
