What a disappointment. Cute atmosphere but they clearly need help managing the place. It started with the menus. The hostess gave us the menus, but did not give us the cocktails or the special menu. The waiter brought over the specials menu which my husband ordered off. It turned out it was the wrong specials menu. We never did see a specials menu for that night. Our table ordered a salad course and entrées and a round of drinks along with water the first round of drinks came maybe 20 minutes later which by the way were mostly NA beers. The salads came out a bit more promptly. Our friends enjoyed the harvest salad. My husband and I split the Caesar Ish, and it was very bland. We then waited forever for our entrées. The waiter cleared the salad plates, but never asked us for additional drink orders never brought us more water and never cleared up our empties. We were trying to get to an 8 o’clock show at the Cabot. Our reservation was at 6:15 our entrées came at 7:45. Way too long to wait, specially when parched. Two of us had the pork cutlet, which was just OK. One of us had the chicken which he really liked the other had the steak tips which were fine. We gulped down our food and were late to the show. There was an attempt at an apology, but it was really sort of...
Read moreI am actually generous with the 4 stars.
To be fair, we dined here on previous occasions and the experience was better, so 4 is still deserved.
Today we had brunch and we left feeling underwhelmed. Pluses: staff was very friendly and welcoming, and the food was tasty, especially the Dutch baby. Service, as others have commented on before, is however rather slow; we spent about 80 minutes there and only 15-20 of that was spent eating, and the only things that really had to be made was the Dutch baby pancake and a mocktail. Pricing seems a little off on a few items too. Mocktail was good but very small, like half a cup at most for $9. Salad was fine, Dutch baby also. Chowder was also rather a small cup for $9, though delicious (apart from the weird crackers that are not crunchy and seem stale even if they probably aren’t). Lox was good, but was literally just slices of lox on a plate; no capers or any garnish.
Overall for brunch we felt the value was not great, even though the food was quite tasty. I’d say it feels like kitchen table has the potential to be great, but is missing the mark here and there. I’d go back again though, certainly for dinner.
Edit: just fyi that for brunch/lunch they only have regular coffee, no espresso/cappuccino etc. Not a big deal...
Read morewe only got apps and cocktails at the bar tables. The lighting in the bar area was actually broken and flickering enough to cause neurological issues, so they dimmed the lights and it was far too dark. We ordered the hummus, unfortunately it was not great, the flavor was off for me and the texture could use some refinement considering the rest of the menu is sort of fancy.I suggest a new recipe . the trick for great hummus texture is cook (even canned beans) with a bit of baking soda then blend it, the crackers with it were a cool shape but ...bad...were they stale? tasted poor. the dill dip was delicious with the chips. there was nothing on the menu that was affordable and casual enough for our mood. However the bartender was so sweet and very attentive. The craft cocktails were perfect he made for us were fantastic. maybe the dining room and entrees would have been better but I do not eat meat or dairy and there was one entree option available= plus we would have missed out on the table service from the...
