Tonight after many hours of travel I decided to stop near my hotel for sushi. I took the time to read online reviews to find a comfortable place to enjoy a delicious meal as I’m not from the area.
I can honestly say I’m all of my 40+ years I’ve never had been more disappointed in a sushi establishment. Maybe on off night? I won’t know because I will not be returning.
I waited at least 10 minutes before anyone acknowledged my presence. I finally had the chance to peruse the menu and was quickly ready to place my order. Again waited for an incredible amount of time for the server to realize I was ready. I’m a patient person and should have followed my gut to leave at that point.
I finally order six pieces of nigiri and a roll. I forgot the name of the roll but it was $16.95. Again, an incredible wait. Now I’m starving and know that if I leave I may make a wrong decision. You know-hoping that the wait was worth it!? Big NO.
The sushi roll was maybe the diameter of a roll of nickels. For $16.95 I fully except a size-able and gracious serving of all things yummy. I was unable to eat the role with my chop sticks as the rice was so loosely packed it fell to shred instantly.
I abandon ship because at this point I can’t eat it without a fork and move along to the nigiri. Did you know that sushi has tendons? I didn’t! I hope that you never know what it’s like to pull stringy worm like, “tendons”’ from the middle of your raw fish.
Again, never once in my many many years of sushi dining had I experienced this. Again, I was unable to enjoy the nigiri as it fell apart almost immediately. Appetite officially lost.
The waiter was kind and asked how my meal was and I was honest. I showed him I was unable to eat my food without a fork or spoon due to the poor preparation. I sat again for ten minutes with no utensils beside the unusable sticks.
I’m now standing up waiting for someone to help me. I wanted to leave because now I’m exhausted AND hungry for something I’m clearly not going to get here.
If you want subpar sushi with string like, “tendons” as the chef affectionately called them-please proceed with caution.
I’m whole heartedly shocked this establishment had such great review and again I’m hopeful that my experience was isolated.
Thank you to the Owner/Manager who discounted the $17 roll I did not eat after brining my plate back to me and having me point out my concerns in front of other patrons.
I took pictures but am unable to share here...
Read moreI ate a very pleasant meal yesterday [6-7-2022] at Moshi Sushi Bar at 2152 E. Main St. in Bexley.
I had been planning to attend a 7:00 p.m. concert last night at Trinity Lutheran Seminary [directly across the street] so I arrived at Moshi Sushi Bar at approximately 5:00 p.m. so that I would be able to fully enjoy my meal, walk around the neighborhood, wander around Trinity Lutheran Seminary, and then arrive at the concert location half an hour early [in order to get a good seat].
My food choice had been Moshi Jerk Chicken ["served with kabocha mash and avocado salad"]. It had been great to be able to study the menu -- "on line" -- in advance before my arrival. My meal had included a small bowl of plain white rice that had not been mentioned on the menu.
One strange thing about Moshi Sushi Bar is that their water glasses [that are made with clear glass] are not symmetrical as one might expect. I had imagined for a brief moment that perhaps the glass-manufacturing company where those glasses had been made had been "too hot" one day with the result that all of the glasses that had been made that one day had partially melted before cooling down completely and ultimately had solidified in a slightly-distorted shape.
Another strange thing about Moshi Sushi Bar is that their bathrooms are located "outside of the restaurant" in a common hallway that is shared by several other nearby businesses. I had been imagining that someone could potentially leave Moshi Sushi Bar to use the bathroom and then mistakenly "return" to the wrong business.
My Moshi Jerk Chicken had been quite good except that the chicken pieces themselves had been far drier than I would have wished. However, I must say that it had been great that the chicken had been cut into pieces rather than being served "on the bone" [as I had been expecting since I have eaten Jerk Chicken several times in the past].
Overall, my recent visit to Moshi Sushi Bar had been pleasant; the staff had been friendly, helpful,...
Read moreExtremely poor carry out food service. Terrible communication with management and owner. My experience with this careless restaurant was outstandingly horrible. The food tasted fine, but the way the restaurant chooses to serve their food is obviously motivated by cutting as many corners to spend the least money. First, I ordered FIVE sushi orders, all which were tightly packed together to fit into ONE to-go tray (see attached photos). These FIVE sushi rolls were separate orders for three people. One of these three people can not eat mayonnaise which was an ingredient in one of the the sushi rolls thus prohibiting them from eating the food they had paid for. When I addressed this issue the manager and owner told me it was my responsibility to ask for separate to-go containers for each order. ALSO, each order of sushi should have come with wasabi and ginger but instead, cutting corners, this restaurant chooses to put one serving of wasabi and ginger in one small container together, unable to separate the ginger from wasabi. To continue my compliant I had ordered two house salads and the dressing for both salads were different colors, not sure what was different about them I asked the management and they could not tell me what the difference in color was... what??? Next I ordered two miso soups but I was not given spoons, forks, or napkins, and when I asked why I was not given these necessary items to eat my food the management and owner told me it was my job to request silverware.. again what??? Never had I been cheated out of my money like I had when I ordered to-go food from this...
