My review of this unique little place is well overdue. I no longer live in Columbus, but when I'm in town I almost always pay a quick visit.
I first heard about New Fangled Kitchen when they initially opened (2018 or 19 maybe). I was a college student at Capital University in Bexley and the shop is literally across the street from campus which made things easy.
In the past there had been a couple small food businesses leasing this location but either failed or relocated for reasons unknown to me. However, I feel New Fangled is here to stay!
ALL of their food is absolutely delicious! Mouth watering just thinking about it. My personal favorite is Lucifer's Hammer. The jalapenos and their famous Diablo sauce really packs-a-punch!
But what truly keeps my continued loyalty with these guys are the people who run this joint. I believe it is family owned and I love supporting small local businesses because they typically never disappoint. The quality of service is unmatched. Kind, welcoming, professional people who truly care about their customers and know you by name.
If you're in the area and want a quick, fulfilling bite to eat.... this is a given.
(Only reason I gave the atmosphere 4-star is because they no longer have inside dining but they do have outdoor tables if the...
Read moreOrdered a tuna sandwich and pecan salad, fellow diner got bologne. With 2 sodas this came out to around $50. Go to counter and order then either take away or eat outside - no indoor seating.
Order area has bigger bags of chips, merchandise, and very fun things like rhose magnetic wooly willy toys as well as a vending machine with vcr tapes, cds, and small toys (I got a tape - a blockbuster with geena davis and samuel l jackson).
Anyway the food - salad wasnt great. Dressing was very heavy on egg, lots of egg on the salad and cheese, and pecans are candies so everything is very thick and heavy.
My tuna melt was fantastic - love the red onion, mustard, and pickles. Rye was great. Recommend for those who line tuna sandwiches. Sometimes I fear tuna melts because often they are foul; greasy fishy piles of gross. This was not at all - fresh and not overcooked, not oily and hit the spot.
Fellow diner liked the bologne.
I got a strawberry habanero soda thst was very good and tried the prickly pear which was also...
Read moreI found this place by accident and glad I did. I happened to be standing in front of the restaurant and needed some food so decided to walk in. I regretted it when I saw they had meatloaf sandwiches but already made eye contact with the cashier. It just didn’t sound good to me, but I was WAY wrong. Decided to get a Reuben, which was good and a meatloaf sandwich. When I ate with my coworker, we had some meatloaf sandwich left over so I decided to give it a try and I absolutely loved it. Since then, I’ve been dozens of times and every time I get it for others, they love it and can’t get enough of it. My favorites are the pretty girl, Lucifer’s hammer, and southern melt.
I was never really a fan of meatloaf and meatloaf sandwiches did not sound good to me however, I can’t get enough of them now. Anyone that says they do not like it is probably part of the group that is opposite politically to you. They are part of the mainstream media and just want to control the narrative to distract you from how good these...
