I was going to give 2 stars...but my husband insisted only 1...and after considering everything I have to unfortunately agree. We were very hungry...hadn't eaten all day...before heading back down the mountain Monday 12/20/21 we need to get a meal. We stopped at Mountain Munchies. I wish we didn't. It's certainly a hole in the wall, but for all the wrong reasons. Yes many unsuspecting people sitting down and ordering To Go. The wait to be seated we thought would straighten out when we sat down however it too over an hour to be served. I kept asking if we should just walk out...but we waited it out....we finally were served. I got the breakfast burrito...I was so hungry I ate it...but it had an undertone of dirty griddle...didn't eat the whole thing...but I was so sick for the 180 mile ride home! I'm still messed up! I wish I did just walk out...I wish that thing wasn't in me. My husband had the burger and fries....not bad...but we both agreed for the wait the prices...the nominal service...it wasn't worth it. It's very pricey....long wait... dirty griddle flavor....sick to our stomach all the way...

So was told take-out order would be 35 min wait... it took almost 60 mins... for a couple of burgers and a hot sandwich. For $55 I was at least expecting knock out food... quite the opposite and for my pre- tip, I was at least hoping for faster service. My husband said it was a terrible sandwich and the kids said the burgers were meh, okay. And they were all hungry after a morning of skiing and waiting for the really late lunch.. Saving grace was all the staff I dealt with were super nice but I guess the kitchen was overloaded. But then, give us realistic wait times. I saw this poor family with young kids waiting for over 1 hour... a group of young ladies for just as long who were told twice that it would be just a few minutes.. they ended up leaving - hungry. I know it's busy during ski season, so that's why they got a 3 instead of 2. So my advice - plan accordingly - order 1 hour in advance at least and do take out. Don't expect the cost or the wait to reflect the food you will get, and you'll be fine. My mistake was having higher expectations from all the previous 5...

Fantastic restaurant with a variety of dishes to choose from. This little “hole-in-the-wall” restaurant serves up quite a meal and the staff make you feel like you are welcome. Special kudos to Jay, our server today, who was friendly and very attentive to our needs. Located in a small shopping center, you need to look twice to even find the front door, but oh, will you be happy that you did. The food was plentiful and extremely tasty, we simply loved it. We had both the turkey and meatloaf dinners, and the serving portions were very large, and we had to take at least half of each meal to go since there was no way we could finish it all. Just remember if you come here to dine to bring a big appetite, because you are going to need it. Great food, great people and a good old down-to-earth atmosphere. There is plenty of parking right out in front of the restaurant so that should never...

I’ve had a lot of Philly cheesesteaks in my life, and unfortunately, the one I had at Munchies in Big Bear was the worst by far. The meat was overcooked and dry to the point that I had to add ketchup just to get some flavor out of it — something I’ve never done with a cheesesteak before. The onions were diced too small and not seared long enough, so they lacked that caramelized taste you’d expect. Overall, the sandwich was disappointing and lacked the flavor and texture that makes a good Philly steak. Hoping it was just an off day, but I won’t be ordering it again. Also, just a heads-up: they don’t split checks, even for a small group like ours (just four people, two couples). Would’ve been helpful to know ahead of time.
