Had lunch here with my sister today, the first time we've stepped in the door since the building became Madhouse. We were instantly stunned by all the unique and interesting design elements. From the totally mad teaparty style chairs to the many textures and eye catching wall coverings, the splendidly adorned bar and all the really cool lighting fixtures this place is a treat to the eye before you even look at the menu. Even the dishes and silverware were different and fit the electric overall style. The music was a fantastic mix of Fleetwood Mac and Etta James and Cake and Beck all played in the perfect volume so you know you're in a pub but you can still have a conversation. I wish I had gotten our server's name. She was tremendous. Friendly and jovial and when we had questions she knew all the right answers. I had the soup of the day, a hominy chili and let me tell you that was a thrill to the palate. It was made with the perfect spices and topped off with a little bit of sour cream and green onions and very, very close to a pozole. I also had the chicken hand pies. Now just about anywhere you go, something like that could be more of a subtle option but these were awesome and served with an herbed oil that was to die for. My sister had the orange chicken salad sandwich. That sandwich was perfectly chunky and the orange addition and cranberries made it absolutely wonderful. We will definitely be back. This is right up there in our list of favorite Billings eateries. Best wishes for a bright future to Madhouse! You are...
Read moreMy journey to Madhouse Bar & Grill started in their parking lot. We had decided to visit this establishment for my elderly wife's birthday, and as she exited the vehicle she slipped on ice due to poor plowing and safety precautions. While she was physically down her spirits to enjoy some delicious food were still truly high. We did not know what we were in for unfortunately. We had placed a reservation and even arrived slightly early for it, to our surprise the table was ready and we were seated immediately. This is where our real experience here began and ended. We sat patiently whilst waiters and other staff walked past us as if we did not even exist. This display of disregard for any level of acceptable service went on for roughly 25 minutes before we decided to leave for a different establishment that values it's customers. My advice would be to ignore this place because if you don't, they will ignore you. Can't comment on the food or drink as I am not sure it is even available here. If you are looking for the worst service in the northern hemisphere look no further because you have found it at Madhouse...
Read moreFirst time here with my very good friends. The place has changed a lot since Grains of Montana was in here. Has a 70's vibe but more on the modern side. Live music tonight, which was nice and not overpowering in a small space.
Ashley was our server. Very pleasant and polite. Recommended the langostino with potatoe gnocchi in a leek cream sauce, my friend Aimee ordered that. Her husband has the the spicy chicken flatbread (low on spice) and a side of white cheddar mac & cheese (low on flavor). Aimee and I had a bottle of the Resiling, which was good. I had the Steak frites with a side of red wine gravy. That stuff is the bomb. Could have done shots of that stuff. Food was great, but one downfall on mine and Aimee's food was that it was warm when recieved, not hot. That is the only reason for the 4 star review.
We had dessert. Monkey bread, vanilla ice cream, and sweet cream. Very good and would have it...
