Girls' birthday trip. Took my best friend here for dinner for her birthday. What a disappointment! We wanted to check out this place for the experience. Despite being avid shrimp lovers, both my friend and I left disappointed. Even my typically easygoing friend found faults.
We stood at the entrance for several minutes & when someone finally took note that we were there instead of seating us they went to find someone else to seat us. We were sat at a table without asking for our preferences, the chairs were uncomfortable & that wouldn't have been such an issue if the meal hadn't taken so long.
We were eventually greeted by a server. We ordered garlic bread & oysters. When she returned for our entrees We asked her suggestions because it was our first time here & she suggested the stuffed shrimp. Which I ended up deciding to order, my friend ordered Shrimper’s Heaven & we added an order of seafood hushpuppies to our app order. A lengthy period of time passed & we didn't receive our apps & then the server arrived with our entrees. She said she'd forgotten to put our apps in & did we still want them. We were eager to try the oysters so we agreed.
Stuffed Shrimp- These appear to have been frozen prior to cooking the tails were mashed down in the stuffing. Even after pulling the tails up & off there were pieces of shrimp shell or crab cartilage mixed in with the stuffing that was just a mushy watery mess. The sauce on the plate was good though. The garlic bread was a crouton crumbling in my hands.
Shrimper’s Heaven- The tempura shrimp had zero seasoning it tasted like nothing with something rubbery in the middle. The fried shrimp were "OK" & the coconut shrimp were the most edible thing we received. Not the best I'd ever had but wouldn't have complained if this is all I had ordered.
I flagged our server down as we were close to finishing with our meal & the apps still hadn't shown up & told her that I'd decided that we didn't need the garlic bread as it was a wait-on-a-meal kind of thing & we were pretty much finished. I should have told her the same about all the apps but we were still excited to try seafood hush puppies & the oysters. She was too rushed to get away from us to tell her that our food wasn't up to par.
Someone else brought the apps from the kitchen. She ate one of the oysters & encouraged me to try one. This was a watery mess! A combination of hot cheese bread crumbs & dirty pond water. Neither of us were interested in trying to pursue those any further.
Seafood hushpuppies- when you say something is seafood I expect crab, shrimp, maybe oysters, octopus, & potentially flake fish. These were dense balls. The outside was deceptively good so your immediate tongue feel & taste was pleasant but once you bit into them the dense inner dough combined with pieces of some sort of dark firm fish was terrible. I quickly swallowed & threw down the other half.
Our meal totaled out to about $85 we sat surrounded by the half-full plates & waited to see the server. No refills, no table touches, server nowhere to be found throughout the meal. No celebration for my friend's birthday, no chance to order dessert.
I finally got up & asked the bartender if I could pay him so I could go. He told me he could not take our payment but offered to go get our server. So she appeared with a check noting the plates on the table & asked if we wanted boxes to which we both frowned & said no & before we could say more she immediately disappeared again while I was trying to pull out payment. So after we sat there for another while now mad I left the $100 gift card I had in hand & left the restaurant.
This is not a place to go to celebrate, this is not a place to go to get a quick bite, heck this isn't a place to go to get good food or good service....
Read moreI had a combination platter "Ain't Just Shrimpin'" and it was seasoned ok but it was a little skimpy if you ask me. It comes with 1 piece of fish, fried shrimp, & fried calamari. I have two pieces of fish due to an error on behalf of our waiter AND the kitchen. My cousin-in-law ordered the same thing, except she wanted to substitute the calamari for an additional piece of fish. There was a $3.99 charge for this. We felt as though it should've been a free substitution, as calamari is more expensive than fish. The reason I have extra fish on my platter is because I ORDERED MY FOOD FIRST BUT I GOT IT LAST, AFTER I HAD TO ASK WHERE IT WAS. I ordered my food while my family was still ordering drinks. They made a mistake and put my order in as my cousin's and they let me keep the extra fish as a courtesy for leaving my food behind. She also ordered fried pickles as an appetizer. They tasted good but we didn't like the batter. Her son ordered fried shrimp. He didn't have anything bad to say. The little kids had pizza. My son ordered a ½ shrimp po boy (w/o the creole remoulade sauce) & fries with a bowl of shrimp gumbo. He had no complaints. I sampled his gumbo. It had a nice flavor and a lot of meat, but I got a lot of chicken and no shrimp, although it's advertised as shrimp gumbo. The fries were nice and crispy. My husband had a shrimp po boy & fries. No complaints there either. I ordered a "Coronarita" to drink and it was ok, but I felt it needed a little more flavor because I really only tasted the Corona. My son's drink was good, but it cost $10 (because it came with a collectible cup). Hubby had a "Bubba's Blue Hawaiian" & it was good. I think I would've rather had his drink than mine. I'd be willing to give them another try, but I'd definitely get something different. Oh yeah, my entree tasted pretty good. I substituted my fries for red beans and rice (free sub), but it could've been better & I don't eat coleslaw. We went to the restaurant shortly after 6 and were seated in about 10 minutes. Our server was Chris. He seemed a little nervous, but did ok & the rest of the wait staff that I...
Read moreI was a guest at golden nugget casino in biloxi ms, and we were swimming at the pool and placed an order with this restaurant in safari (not through the door dash app) and it was “online ordering powered by door dash”. When we arrived at the restaurant, the order had not been made due to it being placed 30 minutes before closing time, they never received the order. At least that’s what the manager told us, a nice man, but we were notified all along the process by door dash via text that our order was received and being made. Then that the order should be ready! We arrived right at 10, which was closing time. The manager also told us we would have to contact door dash to get our refund! The problem was when I tried the number provided, it was a disconnected number! I tried to find my order in the DD app, but it wasn’t there. As it turns out, DD is extremely hard to get customer support from, in these situations. I’ve emailed, tried to call tried to chat, etc… and all to no avail!! Finally I contacted Bubba Gump Shrimp Co and spoke to Jessica, who I’m guessing was a manager, because she was sooooo helpful, and so kind!! She explained to me that I would need to contact DD but she would help me find all the information I needed. She looked up our order and actually contacted DD herself, and was able to get a refund for us!!! After two weeks of me trying to reach out via every avenue I could think of, she was able to get it handled for us. So THANK YOU JESSICA!!!! NO THANKS TO DOOR DASH!!! I mean, they did issue my refund, so thanks for that, but if it weren’t for Jessica this probably wouldn’t have happened. And it definitely wasn’t easy until she got involved!!!! She was a total lifesaver!!! And such a sweet friendly person to talk to!!!! I wish we had been able to eat the food, but I’m happy knowing we didn’t have to pay over $200 for a meal we never received! And I was beginning to lose hope!!! THANK YOU FOR EVERYTHING JESSICA!!! Until next time we are in Biloxi, have a great one!!!! This would’ve been a 1star review if it hadn’t been for...
