Looking for True Island flavor? Look no further!! Located right outside the Keesler AFB gate ck out Sweet Pepper! Make sure you wash your hands for this one folks cus it’s truly a suck-your-fingers-clean experience! This place is a cute little convert conveniently located in Biloxi; away from the casino strip but still close enough to the shore to smell the Gulfport air! Right outside the Keesler military gate they are a prime location to serve our airmen and women and serve them WELL!! When you walk in it really looks kind of unassuming but don’t let that fool ya!! Behind that huge buffet style counter and under those hot warmer plates tasty pleasures await!! They have All the Faves Hot n Ready to go for those in a hurry - Jerk Chicken, Slow cooked Ox tails, Brown Stew or Pot Roast Pork for your entree; steamed cabbage, rice and peas, sweet plantain, white rice, Rasta Pasta and even Baked Mac n cheese for sides - and you get to pick THREE SIDES!!! They also got Wings for DAYS (as our awesome server Alex says) and they got em all kinda ways too!!! For those with a little time you can also choose from an assortment of Chef Fresh Prepared dishes - Fresh Fried chicken, WHOLE snapper THREE WAYS! (Escovitch, brown stewed or steamed) Curry chicken and baked too! Lots of items to choose from! We had a hard time choosing! So we had the daughter had the fried chicken n mac n cheese n MAN she tore it UP!!! This chicken looked fantastic and I could TELL it was fried Right! Seasoned, fried crisp and browned perfectly. She was ALL OVER IT!! And the Mac n Cheese? She left NOTHING. I got a lil bite and it was as good as mine!! 😉😉😉 Real Southern baked Cheesy goodness!! My son and I both had the ox tails, rice n peas and sweet plantains n OOOOOOMMMMMMGGGGGG these oxtails are DUHBOMB. I’ve never been to Jamaica and I make oxtails at home but I have a few clients who run Caribbean restaurants in TX and these out ALL of them to Shame!! The plantains too were done perfect. Not greasy, not too sweet, still slightly firm n FLAVORFUL. The rice and peas were not clumpy at all and seasoned perfectly. These guys Really know their seasonings!!! And got it down!!! Oh! And not to forget the wings!!! My son tried the Garlic Parm!! Or rather he INHALED the Garlic Parm lol. They are Nekkid fried, which we Love and prefer; they were crisp n fried perfectly, and the seasoning he said was on Point!!! He took those Six wings down in about FIVE mins!!! 😂😂😂 I also gotta make sure and give a special shout out to our server and host Alex. He went above and beyond to make sure we were taken care of. There haven’t been many times when hubby and I get food and then it renders us speechless. I can count the times on one hand probably. This is one of those times! From the time we walked in, we felt like royalty. We got a walkthrough of the menu and even all the choices down the line. We were able to sample the various chickens too! Every server/hostess was so friendly and we even found out on of them was a veteran. Then, came the food. The fall-off-the-bone oxtails over the fluffiest rice & peas with the most tender cabbage. Hubby’s jerk chicken was moist, tender, and so flavorful. We’ve had jerk chicken before where the smell is amazing and then you take a bite and it doesn’t live up to the smell. Not this place- wow just writing this review makes me yearn for more of this food! We got to taste the brown sauce chicken and curry chicken too. Both had the same high quality of perfectly cooked meat - I even think the curry tastes just like my mom’s!

Sweer Pepper Caribbean, located right outside Keesler Air Force Base, is an absolute must-try! We stopped by for lunch, and I ordered the yellow curry coconut shrimp with rice, mac & cheese, and cabbage on the side. Every single bite was packed with amazing flavor, and it was totally worth every penny I spent. We also tried the brown stew chicken with plantains and rice, and again, the flavors were out of this world. Each bite was as flavorful as the last—nothing was bland, and everything was perfectly cooked.

The staff here is incredible—super friendly and welcoming. I actually arrived a few minutes before they opened, but instead of turning me away, they took my order and had the food ready for me in no time. The service was prompt, and the whole experience was fantastic.

If you’re craving delicious Caribbean food that hits the spot, this is definitely the place to go. I’ll be coming back for sure, and I hope Sweet Pepper continues to thrive because the food is just that good!...
