If I could give zero stars I would. I have tried this place three different times. The first time I ordered Carne asada I got carnitas. The next time I ordered the tacos and hubby got a burrito the tacos were sub par and the burrito had nothing inside it that it was supposed to have and the things he did not want were in it. Today was the 3rd and final time (only been 3 times as it is so close) We went in and they brought the chips and salsa and queso we ordered. Chips were stale. Had the waitress tried one and agreed. Then she said that was all the chips they had??? Then they brought my burrito it was cold and again didn't have what it was supposed to be in it. We then sat there and decided we were not going to waste the money as they had not brought my husband's food or our dinner guests food either, as we are leaving they are trying to bring another player that again was wrong. Hubby doesn't like beans it had beans and they were dry and crusted. And again was cold. I will never be back. Seems like they treat the hispanic people ( or the ones they assume are as I am also hispanic) different then the ones they assume are white. As I watched food come out piping hot and before our food even though we got there prior and ordered. I will never again go and it is sad because I do love the teinda. But I will not spend any more money there on...
Read moreFirst off, this IS a restaraunt AND a grocer. Theres two separate parts of the establishment, both of which i will cover. Also, definitely the best Mexican I've found in Biloxi.
The grocer: So to keep it simple, they sell a wide variety of foods, beverages, meats, veggies, and even kitchen supplies that were either made in Mexico or further south. After browsing for a while, i can certainly say it's authentic. Definitely the place to go if you want salsa, they have everything!
The eatery: As for the eatery, it doesn't look like much. Indeed, its a small, kind of bare, hole-in-the-wall, but thats almost always a good indication of a great mexican restaraunt, isn't it? In this case it proves true, they've got wonderful Americanized Mexican food, but also the most authentic mexican food I've seen in the states so far. Menudo is on the menu! If you dont know what that is, ask about it, but probably dont order it unless you're feeling adventurous! If you DO know what that is, what are you waiting for!? Other than that, the woman who usually works behind the counter is extremely kind, and will help you through the menu, even if you have specific requests, such as "I'm cutting out carbs, what do you have that'll work for me?". Trust me here, she knows what shes doing, and she'll help you and make you feel...
Read moreFirst timer here (and will be the last time here) to get take out. We ordered and I wanted the 3 enchiladas and told the front counter person (Marily) that I would like 2 chicken and I cheese enchilada and she said no. I asked why not and with no explanation kept just saying so I I didn’t understand why. Finally she just did. (Not sure what that was about). I chose the red sauce instead of green and she said it was “spicy”. I certainly like spice and said that’s fine. Well, the “spicy” was so intensely hot (pepper) that I truly feel like it was done intentionally because I pushed to have one of the enchiladas cheese and not chicken. I ate 1 enchilada and within 2 hours was doubled over with stomach pain and ended up in the bathroom for almost an hour. I even came close to vomiting. I continued having pains and discomfort from the si gel enchilada for the early part of the next day. I can’t believe this is the normal “heat” served. The beans tasted weird and the rice was dry. I do not recommend this place for ANYTHING! Service was bland as the food was too and the red sauce I was served I think was done overly hot because I pushed to get what I wanted. This place should not be serving this type of item. Go to El Saltillo or even Taco Bell! I will...
