I had attempted to come in and get some coffee before work. Not in a rush as I had plenty of time. When I arrived there was some people standing around who I thought was waiting to order.
After a few minutes someone said they had ordered and I noticed the tablet on the counter was turned around (customer facing). So I thought maybe they’re just busy and right now just use the tablet. There was no one standing at the front and there was no indication to me that the tablet was loff-limits”. It’s 2025 so we are conditioned this way now, like I said it was already facing the customer.
After some time again, maybe a total of 3 to 5 minutes (not a long time) someone comes from the back and tells me “don’t touch the tablet. It’s not self-serve.” I apologize and explained that the tablet was already turned around, and that no one was up here taking orders. I was met with the same response “it’s not self-serve” and he walked away. Mind you my order was already done (since I entered it on the tablet). It was just a black coffee.
I’m not saying they had to stop what they were doing. However, if you’re going get an attitude with somebody after and not offer customer service maybe you should stay in the back. Doesn’t seem like the tablet is your concern anyway if you’re going to walk away?
I left and I will never get this place a chance again. I like going non-corporate/chain as much as I can and I was excited to leave positive reviews.
It’s not a big deal but when I try to give you money and you’re disrespectful to me then that’s not a very good consumer relationship. Mind you like I said it was only five minutes at max but seeing how things were moving I could tell that I would’ve been there at least another 15+ minutes just waiting for one coffee. That’s assuming that somebody would’ve came back with any type of urgency to take a coffee order. I wouldn’t have minded waiting if Billy Bad Ass from the back wouldn’t have came up and turned the tablet around and then...

Read moreWhere do I start?! Honestly I didn’t have high expectations when I arrived here. It seemed more like a neighborhood spot that people frequented not particularly because it was good but because it was spacious, available, and easy to get to.
Well I was wrong. While insider is spacious and cozy they are absolutely worth the visit for both locals and outsiders.
I arrived early in the morning and the case was fully stocked and the cashier was very friendly and helpful. He answered all my questions, even obvious ones, and never seemed disgruntled or bothered.
I ordered two cookies, the bacon egg and cheese sour dough breakfast “focaccia “ , and a coffee.
Coffee was just what I needed to start my morning. Fresh, hot, and soothing. Then the pastries. I got the oatmeal raisin cookie and the pumpkin cheesecake. Both were out of this world. Soft, chewy inside, slight crunch to the edge, and full of flavor. Probably 2 of the best cookies I’ve had.
The bacon egg and cheese sour dough was warm which was nice, well seasoned, perfect bready chew while being airy. It was an all around winner for me. I actually went back later that day for seconds but only got a cookie as they were low on offerings right before closing.
Again this place is well worth a visit. Nothing in the case is the wrong choice and while this isn’t some modern, sleek, 2025 looking bakery they invest the time and effort in to making every single offering tasty and worth your money. I can’t wait to go back to Birmingham if only for...
