East of the Mississippi Diner — Restaurant in Birmingham

I did a call in this morning and ordered said salmon and rice with gravy and eggs with cheese needless to say I didn't get my gravy on my rice so I called back and spoke with a young lady and told her that they didn't put my gravy on my rice and this was just dry rice with no butter on it so she said she will tell the owner so we hung up and then I discovered that I didn't have my toast that they gave me some jelly for so I called back and the same young lady answered and I told her about the toast and she said hold on and gave the phone to the owner and she said what is it and called me by my first name like I have done some wrong and then proceed to tell me that they have other customer what is it so I told her that they left my toast off also!!!!! and then tell me to remind them the next time and to check my order before I leave that was the purpose for the call in!!!! I'm a supporter of Black business but this one will never ever get another dime of mine!!! and this particular business and location when I was young had a sign on the door that said no blacks allowed and this is the service that I get good luck with ur...

Visited on 8/4/21 a little after 2 pm. The doors were locked. Didn't realize at the time that they closed at 2. A sweet lady unlocked the doors and came outside as I was walking back to my car. Told her it was my first time there and didn't realize they closed so soon. She allowed me inside where I was able to get two dinner plates and dessert. The employees were very sweet and patient. I ordered beef tips and rice with macaroni and collard greens. I also ordered beef short ribs with the same sides. The food was seasoned and on point. The meats were so tender and the portion sizes were very generous. It was some of the best soul food I had in a while from a restaurant. The chocolate cake was moist and delicious too. Customer Service comes over food, period. The Female Owner attitude is so nasty. She talks about Customers with other Customers. Very Unapologetic for her actions. Just because a restaurant has been opened for many years, don't mean start treating Customers any kind of way. This is the main reason she is having to close down the restaurant early because business is getting really slow. Keep her out the restaurant and watch how the business pick up. I am not from Birmingham and was recommended to this place. I also recommended Family and Friends that would visit from out of town to this place.
