OMG I am flabbergasted by Jack Browns BHAM location. Disappointed just really doesn’t give justice to this review! Friday night, I looked around and thought 💭A burger would hit the spot 💭 I’d heard for years ab Jack Browns but late nights in Lakeview surpassed my weekend plans about 10 yrs ago.🫣 I’m child free and excited to pop out spontaneously. I treat myself to an Uber, arrive, am shocked that it is DEAD. I tried to call several times to no answer and there is no delivery option- with 2-3 patrons staggering out, mostly 21 yr olds, I smile and say to the girl bouncer (I mention her sex for a later statement) that I am wanting to order and excited to try their burgers. Without flinching she informed me that I, in fact, CAN NOT order a to go on Friday.. “No prob I reply, I’ll have to sit in to wait for Uber so I can just nibble til they arrive.” She doesn’t move an inch and says , “No, you have to be a drinking patron to eat.” Beer and a burger, you don’t have to ask me twice 🤣 no joke she says NO, you can’t just walk inside, do you have ID? I chuckle bc I get it, I’ve worked service industry- but I am 40, in flip flops, on a slow night for a BITE..Im not sneaking in to drink.. AbC board ya ya.. you just had to see it. This is no 5 star establishment. I hand over my Apple Wallet, I am going to get this burger I can taste it now! 🤣 NOPE. No digital ID accepted. I’m looking around me perplexed. Can I just order STNDING HERE? She doesn’t move and says again- NO. So here I am, ALONE at midnight, on a dark, DEAD street in Birmingham, AL. I am not being difficult here, there is a difference between a drunk and disorderly and this instance. Refusing defeat I continue, will you let me order from the door just this once, do you have any suggestions as to a place I can go as you won’t let me inside; you saw me JUST exit an UBER alone? You guessed it..NO.. I booked and waited til I entered my ride to let out a huge sob. What if I had been under the influence? This review would instead be a local crime article. I am so saddened by this restaurants blatened disregard for safety, total lack of service skills, poor management as no one ever came out to ask what was going on as I was standing OUTSIDE for over 10 mins and no surprise here, have yet to call me back. (Left VM w name and number yesterday. Do NOT waste your time or money here- GROSS negligence is an understatement. Jack Browns owes me my Uber fee, an apology, and needs to have a meeting on how to use your judgment, people skills, and common sense- I can’t get over how badly I was treated, how lucky I am to have made it home in one piece. When did America become a place where you can not stand on a curb without ID, where human interaction is bleak and seeing someone suffer is just another day.. shame on you Jack Browns...
Read moreOne fine Saturday evening, my date and I decided to stop here for a bite to eat before heading our separate ways. I suggested this spot because I'm a sucker for a great burger and had read decent reviews on Yelp. We arrived around 10:00 pm and found us a seat as it wasn't a packed house. The music was turned up and folks were at the bar enjoying their drinks. After looking at the menu and googling what in the world wagyu beef was, we decided to go ahead and try it and if we died, we would go out together. I ordered the Cowboy (single) and my date ordered the double version of the cheeseburger. When our order came out, I had the double, he had the single, and both of our burgers were way uncooked-like raw in the middle. So we told the waitress that not only was our order wrong, but we wanted our burgers cooked a little longer, please. The double/single thing was definitely on the waitress, and my sweetie admitted that maybe we should've told them upfront we wanted our burgers....actually done. After a few songs and my date sucking up about four cans of Coke, our corrected meal arrived. The final product was quite good. I enjoyed the sauce that comes with the fries and he enjoyed his order so much he was licking his fingers. To speed this story up, the waitress apologized for the mixup in orders, and brought us two free fried Oreos to try because of the inconvenience. That's great customer service right there. And a delicious way to apologize too! This place set us back about $30, mainly because every Coke he consumed was a whopping $2 a can. So that was about $10 between the two of us just on Cokes. However, we did decide that we would go back one day, if for nothing but the fried Oreos.
Ambience: More of a bar that just so happens to sell food. Good...
Read moreJack Brown’s is my fiancé and I’s favorite burger place. The staff is usually friendly and the food is always good. However, my fiancé and I recently invited some out of town guests to eat there on a Monday night around 8pm (group of 10 total). Our guests arrived before we did and sat on the back patio. When we arrived, we were told by the host that we were not allowed back there and that it would be against fire code to let us back there because there was too many people. We then called our group to ask how busy it was and they told us there were 2 picnic tables available. We told the host that there were 2 tables available and asked if we could sit with our guests. We were then told that the they only had 1 server and he was too busy and that we could sit at the bar. We let them know that we completely understand and wouldn’t mind waiting a little longer if the server was busy but that we just wanted to be with our guests we invited there but the staff wouldn’t budge. I asked that if we sat at the bar and ate, could we go to the back patio and visit with our guests when we were done eating. We were told that there is no standing allowed on the back patio and that they require everyone to sit down so we still weren’t allowed back there. The staff’s attitudes were extremely unwelcoming and they seemed annoyed that we were there. I’m not really sure if they were extremely understaffed or just having a bad day but it definitely ruined our experience there. It will not be a place we bring out of town guests to anymore even though the...
