Lou's Pub & Package Store — Restaurant in Birmingham

This used to be my favorite bar to go to until I brought a party of EIGHT people and MIKE decided to publicly insult 2 students on buying the “cheapest old fashioned’s” after MIKE interrupted these customers at their table to play MIKES gambling game. MIKES friends then told these students that they could submit a dollar to a pool which they could win if they got a Yahtzee. And when these students tried to join the game, MIKE PUBLICALLY HUMILIATED them for being POOR and not being able to afford coming every weekend (NOT BEING “REGULARS”). And when I paid my FIFTY DOLLAR BILL and told him I considered myself a regular because I came every time I could afford it, MIKE told me he doesn’t care if I came back because customers come every night regardless. PLEASE DO NOT SUPPORT A BUSINESS THAT TREATS ITS CUSTOMERS WITH SUCH DISCRIMINATION AND DISRESPECT. I would give this place 0...

Our group of 6 drive from FLA to see a show at Iron City. We stopped at Lou's based on a recommendation from a co-worker in AL. The only thing I can say is wish we went there sooner rather than later. What a great atmosphere. Super friendly bartenders that are more than willing to satisfy your thirst with many recommendations. Mike was super nice to us when we said we had to go grab some food he gave us many suggestions on where to go-even offered a ride if he had taken his mini van to work that day. It has many (50) beer choices along with a full liquor bar. If you live there,just moved there or are passing through like us I strongly recommend Lou's for a good time....

2.24.24 update We always meet the best of the best at Lou's, God bless Coach! 2.20.22 update Finally made it back to Birmingham after covid. Best local bar hands down. Just don't walk in acting like a clown. They maintain a respectable, HISTORIC bar/package store to enjoy drinks, music and LOTS of friendly people. Mike, Jesse & Steva are great! They will take care of you and they know many people by name. Great place to have a drink in a casual and fun atmosphere. Grab some togo food from all the restaurants and walk over to enjoy it here.
