I was in the area and decided to take my boyfriend to Mellow Mushroom to check it out. They were closed, but in hindsight, I am SO glad they were. We saw Pop's Neighborhold Grill across the street with a sign displaying that they were open, so we strolled over. We were greeted with a friendly smile and ordered a burger, a Chicago dog, and a grilled chicken sandwich called "The Curly." Food was made to order, was served promptly, and was very tasty. I'm about to write a whole paragraph about this potato salad. The potatoes were fully in tact, but cooked through and through. I am usually so picky about potato salad but the flavors were so nice. The pimentos were a nice touch and weren't overpowering. The serving size was hearty and I finished every bite! I was nearly full by the time I started eating the sandwich. The Curly is a grilled chicken sandwich with grilled onions and lettuce/tomato etc. The grilled onions accented the whole sandwich. The chicken was juicy and tender and seasoned well. I love that they offered several hotdog combinations. I love Chicago dogs and had to try one. It is hard finding one around here. Service was perfect. The atmosphere was casual and relaxed. Several "regulars" came in and were greeted by name. You won't find that just anywhere. Prices were very affordable and were excellent compared to the amount and quality of food you got. There is plenty of parallel parking outside the restaurant and I think there was a lot by the building as well. The facility is clean and well kept. There is a wide menu to accomodate a variety of dietary needs. We will be back and I encourage anyone in the area to check them out. 😀

I had a craving for a BLT and chose to order from Pop's. Looked at the menu and there are 2 types of BLT: $5.49 Breakfast BLT(no description) and $9.99 Pop's Bacon BLT (Hunk of Bacon, Lettuce, Tomatoes). Since I wanted a hefty portion of bacon on my sandwich, I opted to to order $9.99 Pop's Bacon BLT with chips. I receive my order and I am ready to dig in. To my disappointment, my sandwich had 3 little slices of overcooked bacon. I was crushed but I proceeded to eat it. it was bad. The tomatoes weren't fresh, wilted lettuce and crumbly toasted bread. So because I was so uneasy with the sandwich, I called to get clarification on what I ordered/paid for and what I received. The employee that answered the call was rude. I explained to her what I ordered and expected. She then tells me that the sandwich only comes with 3 strips of bacon. So I ask her to explain the difference in the Breakfast BLT and Pop's Bacon BLT. She tells me the only difference is the Breakfast BLT doesn't come with chips. So I am extra confused now. The description of the Pop's Bacon BLT states a hunk a bacon and that's not the case. The employee let me know that 3 strips is the max on the hunk of bacon blt. I asked her what the additional $4 was for and she stated the chips. The chips are listed on the menu for $1.99 a la cart. She concluding the conversation as she was too busy to be bothered by saying she will change the menu to reflect 3 strips of bacon for the sandwich. Pop's doesn't have to bother themselves with me having an issue with them any more as I will never be back. The entire experience including the food as lackluster.

FINE GOLD WITH SMALL IMPURITY (Blackface!?) Looking to have a home-made hand patted hamburger? This is the place for you! Let's talk about it! Double meat Hamburger Pros: Freshly cooked at order well-done seasoned really good rating 9/10 Cons: not enough fries Bean Burger Pros: So good! rating 9.3/10 Cons: not enough fries Atmosphere: Pros: Lots of interesting things to look upon Clean Cons: Can easily be overlooked (business) Limited parking (very tight) ***PICTURE CAN BE EASILY MISTAKENED FOR "BLACKFACE" which could turn away the descendants of slaves. Overall statements Good lunch place, but I don't like the blackface picture in the restaurant (right of the entrance in the corner). Although, it could be an actor playing a part in the script. It is never a positive look to have a picture that is portrayed as blackface. It immediately made me think this could be a racist establishment, which should never be the case if it (Picture) wasn't there. I have revisited the restaurant, but that picture keeps it from being the best overall.
