I got to the Pita Stop just after closing. I took a chance that they still may be open, but the manager apologized and confirmed they were done for the night. I thanked him, and as I was walking out the door, he stopped me and said the grill was still on and to come on back in. I asked him if there was something simple he could prepare for me, but he insisted I order anything I wanted from the dinner menu. I ordered the steak kabobs and waited on my order. When the food was ready, the manager asked if I would like to stay to have my dinner, as the restaurant was empty, and I was already appreciative of his kindness, I declined and took my food home. The steak kabob was outstanding, tender and flavorful. The rice was very tasty and the Greek salad with fresh fruit on the side was delicious. It's hard to find this type of service anywhere these days, I am very appreciative to the manager (I'm so sorry I didn't get his name, and it wasn't on my receipt) but I will be telling all my friends and family about the hospitality I received. Read moreDelicious, fresh, and well cooked meals everytime I've visited this Pita Stop. The waiters/waitresses are very attentive and polite. They're menu has a diverse selection of various Mediterranean dishes.
The dish in my picture is the Ribeye Steak Sandish with tabooli. The steak was cooked medium-medium rare. If you want it cooked otherwise then you may want to mention it to you waiter/waitress as I was not asked.

I had requested to make a recommendation to who it may concern and was shortly greeted with whom I believed to be the owner. He was very receptive to my recommendation of using less sauce and a slightly larger bun for the sandwhich. He also offered me a free dessert on the way out which was very kind.
Overall, a very pleasant and delicious experience with great...
Read moreI've been going to Pita Stop for 15 years and many people I know have been going for a lot longer. They serve consistently delicious food, from seafood to kafta to falafel.
The waiters and the cashiers are routinely pleasant... It's as close to a neighborhood feel as you could want. I love bringing guests from out of town there because it's always a hit.
Also, try them for dinner! It's a lunchtime hotspot being so close to UAB Highlands and UAB campus, and the lunch specials are fantastic values. However, there's a whole different vibe at night... lower lights for a more fancy mood, and then their two most delicious dishes become appropriate: the filet mignon and the rack of lamb. They're both spectacular, and you won't find better in town. The filet melts in your mouth and the seasoning on the...
