Dreamy hidden gem in the heart of Southside next to Dreamland BBQ
What a little hidden gem in the Glen Iris neighborhood. I don't get ice cream too often just because it is mostly way too sweet. However, Milky Way's ice cream reminds me more of high-end Italian ice cream which doesn't kill your taste buds with a horribly sweet aftertaste. My favorite ice cream in Birmingham so far. Banana pudding and Butter pecan are really good. I usually combine it with a walk around Phelan park and the neighborhood with all its unique historic homes. This way I don't have to worry about the calories. It's fun to watch Ali, the owner, make the ice cream waffle cones, and he is always up for a little chat. Super friendly guy. He shared that he has plans to offer coffee soon to go with his homemade brownies. He gave me Macadamia nut brownies to taste, and they are really good too.

Read moreJust had the two scoops with a brownie. Let me tell y'all something. I'm a big guy.i can eat. But I don't recommend getting the regular brownie unless you intend to share it. It was all delicious.and after I'd ordered i tried a few samples and they were also amazing. And I'm sure what he handed me was almost 2 lbs. I didn't eat it all though I tried. Anyway it's a great value the guy who owns it is the man that serves your dish. And he seems like a super cool guy.i recommend anyone and everyone to go give it a try..if a la mode isn't your thing..the peach ice cream turned shake or the blueberry is probably the best flavor. I wasn't sure about the place when I seen it was opening ..I think I thought it was too pricey. I learned tonight you get a lot of bang for your buck. Take a date down to the ice cream shop. Or your better half to recall the early days. Go by yourself you never know who you may meet and you'll never know if...
Read moreEverything was great! Service was great! Ice cream was great! Brownies were great! They have flavors we have never seen at other ice cream shops around town. My mom got the lemon cheesecake bar on a sugar cone & I got the salted caramel brownie in a cup. We were allowed to sample & we were also able to sample a flavor that wasn’t on display (can’t remember the name but it was vanilla with ribbons of caramel & i believe chocolate chips). The flavors were so rich it made it hard to choose. They also have a toppings bar but both of our choices already came with toppings mixed in. The turtle brownie was phenomenal! This is truly a hidden gem! We will...
