The beginning of checking in was absolutely quick and painless. The facility was very clean and nice. Front desk staff was absolutely great (worth a 5 star rating). They were able to meet all my request in a short notice. A young man brought us extra clubs for our guests who were left handed shortly after arriving at our bay. Upon arriving to our bay. My guests and I logged into the kiosk to enter names and game play time. It took a while for our hostess to show, which was Anissa P. (Worth a 2 star overall rating.) She came to the table and asked "what can I get you started with to drink?" After a quick discussion, we decided on 3 golf bags in take home mugs. Anissa informed us that we could not get it because it was a two person drink (which was not specified any where on the menu and that "it would look like she was over serving us". No other explanation was given. So then we decided on two golf bags (me sharing one with my husband, and our guest having one by himself) she began making note of it. At that time, she left to submit our order. After 30 minutes of waiting and playing, we were alerted to our beverages being on the way via the game screen. In the process of our drinks headed to us, our hostess wasted our entire order on the ground which resulted in an additional 10 minute wait. When she arrived back at our bay she she had one golfbag in a take home mugs and a glass of pineapple punch. I asked her where the other mug was? She said its the same drink just in a glass. I told her the purpose of me paying 18 dollars per drink were solely for the take home mugs not the alcoholic content. She then said it can't be more than one golf bag on the table at a time. At this point, I'm confused because of the inconsistency in her statement of what she claims is top golf birmingham's policy. (So you can serve me two pineapple punches for 18 dollars per drink but I can't receive them both in the take home mugs that i am purchasing them in?makes no sense ) After much discussion, I told her she could take the untouched glass of pineapple punch back and we would just keep the one golfbag in the take home mugs. While I understand some place do have a drink minimum, the people next to us which had a party of like 5 (which was also her table she was waiting on) had almost 10 beers and glasses of liquor on their table. They should've have been limited because one was drunk and hit a golf ball in our bay near our screen. It just seems like the hostess, Anissa was either being biased or didn't want to serve us. Then there was an issue with the burgers not being "well done" instead of her taking the order back or asking whether we would like to select another option, she proceeded to tell our other guest "what you mean, it is done ". The other guest then showed her the pink inside of the burger. At that point, I asked her could she take the order back or give him the option to get the burger cooked to his liking or another selection. She then took it back and we were approaching our last 15 minutes from an hour of play time. It was absolutely hard to enjoy eat, drink, and play at this Birmingham location because most of the time was spent debating with Anissa about our food and drink order which made it hard for us to really enjoy our time. I have been to this Birmingham location several times and other locations out of state, it was always worth a overall 4 to 5 star rating. All visits were good except for this one visit thanks to our...
Read moreMy family, friends, and I have been going to topgolf almost as long as it's been open. The service , food, and overall experience has always been top notch. That was, until this Thanksgiving eve when the very spiteful and rude older lady at the counter went out of her way to blatantly disrespect and bark at my family and I, all because we said we only want 1 bay instead of having to wait for 2 despite the place being nearly empty. The attitude frankly began from the minute she started speaking with us and it continued to get worse from there. When we first came in, we were a party of 10 and she told us we'd have to get 2 separate bays because there were only 6 people allowed to play. We told her only a few would be playing and the rest would just be spectating, but she said only 8 were allowed at a bay at a time. Which we understood because at the end of the day those are company rules that everyone must abide by. We stood to the side, took a minute to discuss, and then requested for 2 bays next to each other. She and the man who appeared to be the manager (who was kind with us throughout the entire process) told us we'd have to wait about 15 minutes to get a 2nd bay. So my family and I discussed for a few minutes and decided it's not worth waiting another 15 minutes for a bay that we won't be playing at anyway (since 4 us were spectating and only 6 were playing). We went to tell the woman that we won't be needing the 2nd bay since 2 of us (my sister and I) would leave in order to oblige with their rules of a maximum of 8, and we thought that would be the end of it. We then went to tell our family bye and explain to them that we'd see them later, and told them to go to bay 214 as that was the empty one. The whole time she's glaring at us and pointing and making gesturing towards us at the manager. Granted, we were standing in the area with merchandise but that was only because was the place was empty and my family was about to enter the bay but I dont think that warrants her doing all of that. Nonetheless I ignored her glares and gestures because frankly it just wasn't worth my time to entertain such childish behavior. As my family is walking towards the bay she barks "HEY ! DONT GO! IM CHANGING YOUR BAY BECAUSE YOURE INDECISIVE". Meaning, she wasn't changing it because leaving us at our original bay was mission impossible. She wasn't changing it because they were busy. She was changing it because she wanted to spitefully punish us for simply saying we no longer the 2nd bay and just want to keep the original. I asked her if everything was ok and why she felt she needed to have an attitude but she continued to be rude and insulting even after saying she apologized, and then she walked away. Shame on the topgolf management for allowing such individuals to represent their international company. To be incompetent AND rude to long time customers on a holiday evening is a pitiful combination. With that being said I would still recommend going to topgolf because the set-up is a lot of fun and it's a nice sporty activity. Just steer clear of the older lady with the red wig and hopefully your experience will be better...
Read moreI was highly disappointed with our visit to Topgolf. My husband and I have been talking about visiting Topgolf for years. This past weekend, we drove roughly 4 hours to visit friends. During the visit, our friends, who have been to Topgolf locations many times, suggested we go and we jumped at the opportunity. Upon arrival, we checked in. It was a roughly 45-60 minute wait, which was fine with us. We decided to sit down at the restaurant to enjoy some beverages and food while we waited. There was ONE server and ONE bartender, which was clearly not enough. The server was overwhelmed and "I'll be right back" turned into an hour without food or drinks. By the time she returned to take our order, we had just received a text that our bay was ready. She was very nice and apologetic. It was not her fault - it was Topgolf's fault. Once we got to our bay, our new server very sweetly told us she would take care of us right there! Except this too turned out to be a joke. She asked if we wanted anything and before we had a chance to respond she asked if she wanted us to turn on the heater. We responded yes since it was chilly and it was implied that she was coming right back. She did not. After an EXTENDED period, she came back and took our order - failing to even attempt to write it down. As I passed her to go to the bathroom minutes later, she asked what all we had. I found this extremely unprofessional. Then, our food arrived, but she forgot an item (my husband's meal). We would have liked to tell her, but she disappeared and didn't come back for a long time. When she did return, we asked for the missing item (nachos) and I ordered the skillet cookie. The order arrived via someone else. When I noted there was no spoon or fork with the cookie, the guy looked at me dumbfounded and disappeared without a word. After watching the ice cream start to melt off the cookie, my friend went inside to the bar to ask for a spoon or fork and was told that they didn't have any - they were in the kitchen. They sent her away empty-handed. After what felt like an eternity, someone finally checked on us and retrieved a set of silverware from inside a nearby cart.
Later, as our game was counting down to less than 20 minutes, not one but TWO different people came by to ask if we wanted to "extend our time." I explained to the first that the only reason we needed more time was the extended period of time it took for our food to come out. He, with a blank look on his face, said okay, we can do that and walked away. We repeated the interaction with the second guy who went to the computer and extended the time. All of this back and forth kept me from playing the rest of my golf game. We left feeling defeated, disappointed, and wishing we had spent our hard-earned money somewhere else.
I want to add that I rarely, if ever, write negative reviews. I wish this experience had allowed for a...
