I’ve been here quite a few times before and have loved it, but my experience last night really turned me off from this place. If the owner is there, you know you’re going to be taken care of—I was really unimpressed with the crew that was there last night. The woman taking our order didn’t write anything down, and as a result she came back to our table 20 minutes later and asked for our order again. That’s not a huge deal, but it set us up for the rest of our experience. When we finally got our food (we were there at 8pm and were the ONLY people there) some of it was good, but the chicken tikka masala was literally inedible. We had been there before quite a few times, and what we got was not what we ordered—this was a creamy mess that tasted like off mac n cheese powder with absolutely no flavor or even a hint of spice. I asked the manager if he could take it back, he instantly went into the mentality, “you don’t know what you’re talking about.” He brought it back, and then came out and apologized because they had run out of tikka masala concentrate and what we got was an on the fly attempt at a recreation that went wrong. It was okay, the night continued. When we’re done eating and our plates are taken away, the chef himself comes out and goes on the same rant as the manager—when we told him we’d been there many times before, and that the manager told us that they ran out of the concentration they used, he backed off. It was really, really uncomfortable, and we asked for the check. Being the last people in there, it took almost half an hour for someone to bring us the check, they had forgotten about us where we were sitting. Overall it was a very uncomfortable situation, very drawn out, and the workers last night just overall sucked—I don’t know if they have new ownership or something, but this is the most unprofessional restaurant experience...
Read moreI recently visited an Indian Clay Oven Bar and Grill in Bismarck, and I was truly impressed by the quality of both the food and service. As someone looking for halal options, I was pleased to discover that they serve halal food, and they did not disappoint.
I ordered the lamb biryani and chicken biryani, and both were absolutely delicious. The flavors were rich and perfectly balanced, with tender, flavorful meat that was cooked to perfection. The salad was fresh and complemented the meal well, and the tea was the perfect way to finish the dining experience—fragrant and soothing.
What made the experience even more special was the staff. They were incredibly friendly, attentive, and made sure everything was to my satisfaction. It’s clear they care about their customers and aim to provide top-notch service.
If you're looking for great halal food in Bismarck with excellent service, I highly recommend this restaurant. I’ll definitely...
Read moreThe India Clay Oven is just the cultural experience North Dakota needs! It’s definitely worth the trip to Bismarck! We started out with gorgeous mango lasis and the Clay Oven Mix Grill. The meat was tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked! Our order of vegetable samosas were crisp and light with the perfect kick of spice. Their naan bread is hands down the fluffiest, softest naan I have ever had! We shared a delicious mixed vegetable curry and a lamb tikka masala. For dessert we had Gulab Jamun and my favorite Rasmalai which is a spongy cottage cheese dumpling in a sweet creamy sauce. We ended our experience with Clay Oven Masala Tea. The flavor of everything we tried was mind blowingly delicious! We felt so well taken care of by all of the wait staff and the service was phenomenal! I am so obsessed with Indian food and this restaurant and am already planning out what to try the...
