Rivermill Bar and Grill — Restaurant in Blacksburg

Generally good but I had a bad experience so ill be buying my car bombs elsewhere. I currently have a paper temporary id because I went to get my horizontal license in December and it hasn't come yet. The bouncer refused to let me in even when offered a Hokie Passport with my picture and birthday and my Concealed weapons permit with matching address, birthday, picture, etc. Kroger, the ABC store, Champs, Tots, Sharkeys, Hokie House, Bull and Bones, Food Lion, Big Als, and Blacksburg Taphouse have all taken either the ID or a combination of the three and I had stamps from Champs and Hokie House on my hands. I know its their right to refuse service to anyone and all that nonsense but if i'm going to buy food or drink from them, Id rather not get hassled like that. This isn't the first obnoxious bouncer I've run into there either. Another hassled a friend when he and I were trying to get an appetizer at 7 pm. The friend didn't try to pretend like he was 21 so we didn't see what the issue was that early. Food is pretty...

Buffalo Chili was not buffalo, just ground beef. Wifes tacos were almost inedible. Both dishes were so overwhelmingly salty we both didnt finish our plates--just almost inedible due to the salt content. The vodka soda/long island we got had almost no alcohol in them--my long island was mostly syrup/filler, and my wifes vodka soda was mostly soda--huge waste of money, we should have ordered beer in a bottle. Bartenders were very non caring. Gave us our food and drinks, checked up on us 5 minutes after, and didnt so much as make eye contact with us for the next 45 minutes we were there. Very unprofessional, in my opinion.

I have no idea what has happened to this place as it used to be a "go to" spot for my wife and I from 2013-2017ish, but the last 3 times we have come here have been just really unpleasant experiences. An extremely rude staff. At 1:50 am they started practically shouting at us as if we were kids (everyone was in their thirties) that we had to finish our beer within a minute or they will take the cups from our hands. They didn't proceed that with any gentle reminders. Just immediate aggressiveness. They were doing that to everyone in the bar unprovoked. They didn't even let my friends go to the bathroom.
