Oh how I remember the first time I set foot on the soft grass of the Drillfield. It was June. the air was crisp with a light and friendly breeze. Puffy clouds aimlessly wandered the sky. My long time friend and I wanted to play Frisbee here, for we had heard of the broad open grass expanse. The UVA lawn fails to even compare to the grandiose pasture which is the Drillfield at Virginia tech. As we played, the sun set below the dark outlines of the dwellings surrounding the field. Although the grass was now without light, as we threw the frisbee, the light would still grace the frisbee high in the air. A truly tranquil and pleasuring moment it was! Whether you’re taking a walk, relaxing under a tree, or just passing through, it’s a great spot to take in some fresh air and campus vibes.

You can walk on the grass, or, if you're a big sissy you can walk across little paved paths conveniently placed to only get you from a few points to a few other points.
