I asked for the Mad Greek on pita bread, rather than the sub it came with, as I preferred the softer style of bread The bread came out pretty good - it was pretty soft, cooked well, and had some char marks but wasn't overly so
The 12-inch that I ordered was actually two separate 6-inch subs, where each was honestly quite large - enough for a single person to finish Using a lot of willpower, I managed to finish both of them, but it was pretty difficult and required a few breaks The reason for this was the beef
I can't discuss the beef without first discussing the portion size. Each pita bread was absolutely loaded with beef - I mean completely stuffed When you'd pick it up, even without a first bite, the beef would already be falling out, and this would continue throughout the eating process until there was an accumulation of pieces on the plate. Due to how packed this was, each bite was like 80% beef. Some may not like this, but because the beef was pretty flavorful, I loved it - you really get your moneys worth with this
Since there was so much meat on the sandwich, I really didn't taste much of the other toppings - like olives, onions, peppers, and spinach. There was a little bit of cheese but I felt like there could've been more The lettuce was definitely there but I didn't like how it was just in two huge pieces rather than evenly distributed across in smaller pieces The mostly-beefness did make the flavor a bit one-note as there weren't really many differing flavors in the different bites
Lastly, the tzatziki sauce was pretty good - it was a bit unequally distributed but there was a good amount of it - and it certainly was present in most bites
For the price of around 15 dollars, this much food is really good. I might recommend getting the 12 inch and splitting it among two people so it'd be pretty cheap per person
Overall, a pretty well-packed, if one-note, gyro-like option at an incredible portion...
Read moreMy family and I had the pleasure of dining at The Cellar Restaurant in Blacksburg, Virginia, on the eve of St. Patrick’s Day.
It was our very first visit to Blacksburg, a trip prompted by our daughter’s interest in attending Virginia Tech. We couldn’t have asked for a better introduction to the vibrant college town life than our experience at The Cellar.
From the moment we stepped in, we were enveloped in a fun, lively, and engaging atmosphere that truly set the tone for the evening. The service was nothing short of exceptional, striking the perfect balance of attentiveness and warmth, making us feel right at home.
Our culinary journey began with appetizers of calamari and curly fries, both of which were a hit at our table.
The calamari was perfectly seasoned and cooked, while the curly fries were a delightful twist on a classic favorite. For our main course, we opted for pizza, which was a revelation in itself. The freshness of the ingredients and the skill with which it was prepared shone through with every bite, leaving us savoring the flavors long after the meal had ended.
What made the evening even more special was the opportunity for our daughter to experience the fun and bustle of college life in Blacksburg, surrounded by the warmth of her family. It was a glimpse into a potential future that was both exciting and comforting.
We are already looking forward to our next visit to The Cellar Restaurant. It’s not just the exceptional food or the impeccable service that draws us back, but the warmth and vibrancy of the atmosphere that makes it a staple in Blacksburg.
To the wonderful team at The Cellar, thank you for an unforgettable evening and for making our first visit to Blacksburg truly special.

Read moreThis place is absolutely atrocious. Customer service gets a zero, cleanliness is an issue, disability accessibility and more. My friends and I were walking downtown Blacksburg with our medical alert service dogs, and we all started to get a bit thirsty, and tired from the heat. So we decided to stop into one of our, former, favorite restaurants. We sat down and waited for about 15 minutes before being greeted by an employee. He told us he could not serve us due to our dogs, and potential allergies a customer might have. He then proceeded to yap that he had the right to refuse service to anyone, despite that not being the case and quite literally is against federal law. All we wanted was a drink and maybe an appetizer. He was very rude, blatantly ableist and disrespectful. As I looked around I also noticed how inaccessible and unclean it was in general. So many tables that hadn’t yet been cleaned, floors that were not swept etc. as well as no wheelchair accessible ways to get into the restaurant. There are steep stairs with no railings, and a heavy door that is hard to get open even being able bodied. All in all, if you’re disabled or even care about disabled people, do not go to this restaurant. Food is decent, but not good enough to be...
