For my birthday back in November, my family met at Acapulco in Blaine to celebrate. I used to work in the neighborhood and have visited over a dozen times over the years, so we were excited to return.
My wife and I arrived early, so we ordered beers and queso. The server asked if we wanted a big one, which I figured would be a normal bowl versus small cup and we agreed.
Awhile later, she returned with a plastic to-go tub full of queso - just like you'd get if you made a catering order for a large group. I immediately mentioned to the server that it was much larger than anticipated, and she didn't seem to think it was out of the ordinary.
I am a devout queso lover, so we just started digging in. Mind you, this is a massive plastic tub of queso, so it almost immediately cooled off and got thick as concrete. The server did offer to reheat the bowl - and we took her up on it, but had the same issues within minutes.
After our meal, which was great, we got our bills. Even after using two $25 gift cards from my sister, the bill for my father, wife and I was still $35 after tip, due to the queso costing $20!!!
I don't feel like it's normal to get catering size portions when you're dining in a restaurant and definitely felt like I didn't get a good value from our experience.
The day after our visit, I submitted my feedback privately to Acapulco but never even got a response. I would've been happy to leave it alone but don't feel satisfied with the lack of response and resolution.
Even though I've previously had good experiences with the food quality, portions, and service at Acapulco, I'll never return to this location and will gladly give my money to other Mexican restaurants in the area before ever visiting another Acapulco again. Read moreStood up front for a while before being seated around lunch time. I saw the manager standing in back, and I believe she saw me as well, yet didnt even acknowledge me and went about other business. I was the only one waiting.
*There was a plastic wrapper in my guacamole dip, and the Chile relleno ordered by both me and my guest were COLD inside! I told the manager(who was also our server) about both issues. She asked me if I wanted a new serving of guacamole, but I told her it should be fine, now. I just wanted to eat and not wait around any more than we already had. They forgot my guest's refill that they were going to get. For the uncooked relleno, I asked if they could just make us a new one to go so we could get going.
Service was slow despite only a few other guests. Our server(the manager) had a very dry disposition and was not very friendly from the get-go. She never apologized for the issues, nor did she give us any discounts. In her defense, she did offer to replace my guac and did remake our rellenos to go, but a great business would give you some kind of extra compensation for multiple issues. If they had, I wouldn't mind coming back to an establishment that apologizes and does what they can to make it right. I had ordered the 3 item combo platter to take some home for someone else, so I was looking most forward to eating my relleno and couldn't even eat it when it was served. I mainly just stuck to the chips, there.
If the manager was more friendly in general, it would've been a lot easier to swallow. With all the Mexican restaurants around, I will definitely be choosing a different one from now on! Poor...
Read moreSo upon walking in me and my buddy was trying to get seated and host was on her phone barely making eye contact with us. I said hi to them and all three ignored me and my friend and it was more then once between multiple people. So it is going on 25 minutes of down computers and still no order being prepared I'm appalled by the lack of problem solving in a simple situation of how no one seems to be trained properly in a situation as this. The only person who seems to be going above and beyond the call of duty is a female server by the name of Katelyn she Has been so helpful and reassuring that she is going out of her way to at least deal with the problem very polite and well spoken in a situation that all her co-workers seem to be acting is no problem. I really appreciate all she has done so far will be writing a finishing review on this and honestly I don't usually do this but the other workers here have just been beyond rude. Definitely not about the consumer only worried about texting on there phone any chance they get and quick interactions with the consumers. But again thanks Katelyn for your service awesome to see atleast someone...
