Overall, 3 Stars. The most disappointing aspect of our experience was the confusion on booking our visit. On the main page of their website there are two main options to click on: "RESERVE A TABLE" and "RESERVE A HITTRAX BAY." I clicked on "RESERVE A HITTRAX BAY," and it led me to a screen where the first option to click on has times and dates available and reads "Make A Reservation." Below that on the screen are options for "Experiences," without any times listed to reserve. So, since I originally had clicked on "RESERVE A HITTRAX BAY," I assumed the times I was choosing from in the "Make A Reservation" section is what I needed. My son and I were extremely disappointed when we were notified when we drove an hour to the restaurant, that we had only reserved a table for dinner and all of the HITTRAX bays were taken up for the night. Open Table or The Ballpark needs to correct this booking confusion. As for the rest of our experience, the burgers were really good! The San Francisco Garlic Fries were pretty good too. Our server wasn't quite as attentive as we'd like, as she didn't check back with us until we were done eating. So, we ate a portion of our meals without drinks. My son and I had the ice cream cup helmets for "nostalgia" sake. We were kind of hoping to bring home a "The Ballpark" mini helmet for a souvenir, but the helmets were plain and we weren't sure if we were supposed to bring them home anyhow, so we didn't. Since we were not able to use the hitting bays, there was lots of other options, ie pool table and other games available. We were disappointed that there wasn't a single baseball game on any of the dozens of screens. There was basketball (I understand that March Madness is popular) and hockey, but at the time, four MLB games were going on, but none being played at The Ballpark. Now that we know how to book a HITTRAX Experience, we will likely give The Ballpark another visit. For now though, 3 Stars for...
Read moreI am not a review writer, even when I have a bad experience but we are still so baffled at how bad of an experience we had that I feel compelled to share. We were so excited to try this place based on past reviews and some items on the menu sounded so delicious. We arrived and sat at a high top in the bar, we were greeted rather quickly by the bartender and ordered our drinks. I would recommend the espresso martini but unfortunately that was the only good part about this dining experience. We just wanted to try a couple of the fry flavors and then planned to get dessert since we had already eaten dinner elsewhere. The San Francisco fries and the truffle fries were absolutely horrible. Not only did it take about 20 min for the fries to come out, when they arrived, it was all the tiny little fry pieces (bottom of the bag type pieces) and the fries were clearly re-fried. They were rock hard and the ones that were slightly edible were soaked in oil. The San Francisco fries were basically flavorless but at least a little more edible than the truffle fries. The bartenders continued to walk by our table without ever checking in and once they did, we had decided since the fries can’t come out right, how can we expect anything else to come out edible? We’ve both worked in the industry and were shocked that food of that quality was sent out to a table in general. We let the bartender know about the fries and they did take truffle fries off the bill. But if a restaurant can’t send out a decent plate of fries (and it’s hard to mess up fries), it’s certainly not a spot that I would...
Read moreWe had a couple of drinks, dinner, and rented a cage for an hour. It was a pretty good night, but it’s not something I would go back to do again.
You get a section kind of like a bowling alley - your own table & couch set up with the cage. There were a lot of people trying to help us and we were a bit confused… I think we had a waitress, bartender, and then also 2 people who were checking in and teaching us how to use the cages?
The machine is cool and pretty straight forward once you get a quick lesson. I think it would be really fun for kids or for non-baseball players, but the baseball players in our group weren’t overly impressed. Both said regular batting cages are a lot better. The cage is kind of small so the ball only comes from 22ft away and it takes some getting used to. The balls are a weird hard foam. It’s also awkward because someone has to come in and pick up all your balls every once in a while. I wish there was a gutter in the back or something like a bowling alley to collect them.
The food was good. A little on the pricey side, but not too bad. Drinks were good. The beer wall concept is cool, but we aren’t big on beer.
I’m not sure how long this place has been open. I got the impression that it’s pretty new and maybe they’re still working...
