Portillo's at the corner of Lake street and Bloomingdale road, worst customer service ever!!! I called ahead to make sure they were open and they said the drive thru is open until 10pm, I pulled into the drive through line at 9:45pm after work to pick my family up food. There was about 20 cars ahead of me, but the cars were moving through the line and recieving their food. When the truck ahead of me pulled up to where you order food the sign lights turned off. I could hear the driver saying ( Hello, hello ) no response and he pulls up to the pick up window. I pull up to order, I say ( Hello, are you open still ) no response, at that point it is 10:06pm. I sat at the pick up window for a couple minutes while employees just walk past with no acknowledgement to me. Finally a young man opens the window and asked why I am waiting there, I said I have been in the drive thru line for 25 minutes already, he said ( Yeah, we are closed ). A manager came up and said ( we are closed ) and began to shut the window. I told him how long I was waiting and he said ( and we closed 7 minutes ago ) but not one single employee notified me or the other 12 cars behind me that we were not going to get food and made us wait in line for 25 minutes for nothing. Not a single apology from any employee, just them repeatedly saying ( WE ARE CLOSED ). So rude and unacceptable behavior, since when did basic courtesy and empathy become such a lost art, shame on all the employees at...
Read moreI have been to Portillos too many times to count. It has become a Sunday tradition for us. Normally we visit the Batavia Portillos; today it was the Bloomingdale location, and they made a mess of it. This is significant, because Portillos' quality control still remains overall great. This time however, via online order and drive-thru pickup... No straws provided. One hamburger was missing the tomato it was supposed to have. The hotdog had been crushed at the bottom of the bag. The large fries was not full. It was more like a small. (We always share the fries.)
The above is annoying but here's the really fun part: We entered the drive-thru line, told the order-taker about the online order, he notified the kitchen, and then he told us to leave the line and park at 1. I tried to get him to repeat it but the second time was worse and he walked away. So we pulled out of the line looking for an obvious parking spot for a curbside pickup. The first thing we found were 3 spots all clearly marked "online ordering / catering pickup" (or something to that effect.) We parked and waited. And waited. Finally after another 10 minutes I called them - and they couldn't find us. Why? Because apparently those were "decoy" spots and that we were supposed to park at "cone #1". Read more20 minute wait in drive through for a combination a cheeseburger and bowl of chilli 15+ get food and I sit like a fool ask kid he gives me B.S. about the regular or other chilli. I never knew they had 2 kinds after trying to explain to this half wit that the type of chilli is irrelevant a girl showed up with a bag of cold food, I gave It back and voiced My opinion strongly that I was not happy and to return it to the manager and have he or she return with My remade order hot this time. 4 minutes later an antagonistic large man in glasses shoved a bag in the open window growling "here's your food" to which I responded a firm STOP RIGHT THERE! I then proceeded to inspect the order for correctness which I found the cheeseburger drowning in condiments and poorly assembled the combo which I had asked for slightly wet but not dry was dripping through the paper and into the plastic bag it was placed in. I left the chilli alone. When I asked Mr. Manager what the problem was and why My food was in the condition it was he snarled you don't have to eat it and walked away. Not wanting trouble I went home and tossed out all the food I had just waiting 40 minutes for and looking at the bags realizing they kept My receipt so if I desired to return to complain I would have no evidence.
